About this position
The Amazon Coordination Unit (ACU) of the IDB is looking for a proactive and detail-oriented professional with strong capacity and experience in partnerships, alliances and networks coordination, to support tasks related to technical coordination of sector-related work, Amazonia Forever networks, and continuous learning and knowledge generation from the Amazonia Forever Program implementation.
The ACU facilitates the implementation of the Amazonia Forever regional coordination program through proactive, strategic coordination and construction of strong alliances and relationships, in close collaboration with the operational areas of the IDB Group, with special attention to transversal issues of pivotal importance to achieving results.
The ACU is small and dynamic team, with some division of responsibilities but also an expectation for strong teamwork, proactivity, flexibility, and collaborative spirit. The team works under the Vice-presidency of Countries (VPC) at IDB, as well as with specialists and management throughout the IDB and the COFs in Amazonian countries.
What you’ll do
- Collaborate with the ACU team to provide technical and coordination support for the development, expansion and monitoring of networks coordinated by the Amazonia Forever program.
- Support ACU in the coordination of national, regional and global dialogue with sectors on policies, position papers and knowledge products.
- Support maintaining and enhancing technical coordination mechanisms, in the Amazonia countries.
- Support the maintenance of fluid communication with the members of the Amazonia Forever networks, on progress, reporting and knowledge matters, with a view to effective, well-coordinated and timely support to the Amazonia Forever Regional Coordination Program, responding to the decisions and agreements reached at COP30.
- Support coordination and reporting of sectoral regional and national dialogues, related fora and events, including those related to COP30 outcomes.
- Support identification and development of strategic knowledge and communication products related to Amazonia Forever’s portfolio and based on sector and networks work, dialogue with partners and allies, with client countries, among others.
What you'll need
- Education: Master’s degree (or equivalent advanced degree) from an accredited university in environmental and/or natural resource management/business administration, project management, international development, international relations, public policy or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role.
- Experience: At least five years of relevant experience participating in the coordination/ management of expert knowledge platforms, fora and alliances. You have experience working with key development sectors and in developing countries (preferably tropical countries) and hence a solid understanding of their priorities for climate-resilient and low-emissions development pathways. Through prior experience, you have acquired a working understanding of multilateral development banks (MDBs). Experience in coordinating multi-sectoral, multi-country fora and platforms and events. Experience working in countries of Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) is highly desirable (Amazonian countries are preferable). Experience working in policy and technical dialogue coordination, expert/sectors and knowledge dialogue coordination, project management is desirable.
- Languages: Proficiency in English and at least proficiency in Spanish or Portuguese is required.
