We improve lives

About this position
The Research Department (RES) pursues two main objectives. First, it actively engages with the broader research community—both in academia and in other policy institutions—by producing high-quality academic work aimed at publication in peer-reviewed journals and by participating in seminars and conferences.
Second, RES research complements the Bank’s ongoing analysis of macroeconomic conditions across the region. It supports the preparation and review of country strategy documents, macroeconomic assessments, and contributes to institutional products such as the IDB Annual Report, the Latin American and Caribbean Macroeconomic Report, and other flagship publications, speeches, and presentations.
Objective of the Consultancy
The consultant will support RES Economists in conducting analytical and policy-oriented research on macroeconomic issues in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). - Translate findings from the Annual Macroeconomic Report and other Bank publications into concise, accessible policy products and dissemination materials for internal and external audiences.
- Contribute to the preparation of the Annual Macroeconomic Report and draft or review analytical sections for policy reports, speeches, and presentations for senior management.
- Build, update, and document macroeconomic databases and analytical tools, and produce the charts, tables, and factsheets that support these products.
- Undertake research and analysis on macroeconomic and financial policy topics relevant to the region.
- Provide agreed analytical, data, and drafting inputs on short turnaround macroeconomic issues and carry out related analytical tasks as agreed with the supervising economists.

- Experience compiling, cleaning, and maintaining macroeconomic and financial databases from official and international sources (e.g., IMF, World Bank, national statistical offices, and central banks), and using them for papers, policy briefs, and reports.
- Solid command of data visualization and the production of charts and tables for policy documents and presentations.
- Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, manage multiple short-turnaround requests simultaneously, and diagnose and resolve technical problems independently or in collaboration with internal and remote team members.
