About this position

We are looking for a motivated, proactive, and client-centric Business Advisor and Emerging Technology Expert. As a Business Advisor and Emerging Technology Expert, you will need to possess proven expertise in: 

The identification of business and technology solutions and services that can add value to our clients’ strategic priorities.  

Researching and demonstrating technology that benefits the organization and clients.  

The selected candidate will serve as a liaison between the TTD department and the country office of the IDB Southern Cone Region and IDB Central America Region providing: 

Providing research services, coordination, showcase of new technologies, and technology adoption mentorship and workshops. 

Providing advisory services, identifying opportunities, and collaborating to develop and apply purposeful technologies in Sectorial projects and supporting technology adoption through key technology-based operations. 

Proactively identifying business needs and connecting them to the corresponding business family within the TTD department. 

You will work in the Technology and Transformation for the region and the Regional TechLab team part of the TTD department.  

The Technology and Transformation Department (TTD) aims to enhance the agility, efficiency, and effectiveness of the IDB Group using technology, innovation, data, and digital transformation to achieve greater impact. 

The Technology and Transformation for the Region (TTD/TTR) Group has a primary role in creating and fostering a relationship with Operational Teams, identifying opportunities on how technology innovations can be applied to IDB’s projects.  

TechLab is the Emerging Tech Laboratory of the TTD department at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). TechLab serves as a means to accelerate the adoption of emerging technologies in areas that can have a positive impact on the development of Latin America and the Caribbean through the exploration, experimentation and awareness of these new technologies.

What you’ll do

  • Act as a trusted advisor to the country office personnel and a liaison to the Technology and Transformation Department (TTD) and external vendors through the identification and clarification of needs and challenges. 
  • Develop and implement sound recommendations towards the adoption and/or optimal use of existing IT tools, services and vendors that support operational and corporate processes anticipating gaps and overlaps. 
  • Assist business with development of business cases and prioritization and managing demand of internal customer needs providing guidance to the different teams on technology components. 
  • Provide technical guidance and work internally with the corresponding product family in TTD, business areas, and external parties to drive solutions, proactively identifying, managing, and resolving coordination challenges with business units and other TTD functions. 
  • Actively promote best practices within and outside the assigned Department. 
  • Identify, screen, and evaluate new solution opportunities or use cases for current TTD tools to address internal and external client needs. 
  • Understand, recommend, and apply new and innovative business processes and technologies to meet the strategic needs of the VP, Departments, and Units, while ensuring compatibility with the Bank’s existing products, applications, infrastructure, and security requirements. 
  • Follow newest technology trends in the public and private sector that illustrate how to improve employee’s work environment and citizen’s lives in the Latin America and the Caribbean. 
  • Coordinate and host visits at the Regional TechLab in CPR, engage with multiple vendors to set-up demos on their technologies and coordinate closely with the different TechLabs to showcase relevant use cases, Proof-of-Concepts and Experiments. 
  • Research and investigate products to understand how they work and analyze emerging technologies trends to demonstrate and explain technology products and services to non-technologists    
  • Build inspiring use cases on how to use the technology that are relevant to different audiences and create strategies to set demos, defining KPIS to follow up and evaluate their success 

What you'll need

Education: Master/Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent advanced degree) in Computer Sciences, Information Technology, Business Administration, Innovation or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role. 

Experience: At least 4 years of progressive experience with at least five (2) years delivering technology-based business services and solutions. 

Languages: Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is preferable.   

Requirements

Citizenship: You are either a citizen of Paraguay/Panama or a citizen of one of our 48-member countries with residency or legal permit to work in Paraguay/Panama

Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
