About this position
We are seeking a proactive, collaborative, and dedicated Accounting Consultant to join our team. In this role, you will support the financial reporting of trust funds and benefit programs administered and sponsored by the IDB.
You will be part of the Accounting Policy and Trust Funds Reporting Group within the Accounting Division of the Finance Department. This team is responsible for the financial reporting and internal controls of all donor trust fund resources managed by the Bank, including IDB Lab and Bank-sponsored benefit plans and programs, ensuring compliance with established accounting policies and procedures.
What you’ll do
- Maintain and update financial records, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to internal controls, including Internal Control over Financial Reporting (ICFR) standards.
- Perform monthly and quarterly overall trial balance review and analysis to verify completeness and accuracy of accounting records.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports related to trust funds and benefit plans/programs, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Support trust funds and benefit plans' external audits and compile appropriate documentation for auditor's review.
- Support the ICFR framework for trust funds and benefit plans by performing and documenting control procedures and conclusions.
- Support SMEs with other activities in trust funds and benefit plans’ financial reporting process as needed.
- Assist in the development and implementation of financial policies, procedures and systems to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support system implementation efforts, including testing new accounting system functionalities and assisting with data migration activities.
What you'll need
• Education: Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent advanced degree) in Accounting, Business Administration or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role. CPA or Contador Publico Nacional in one of the member countries preferred.
• Experience: At least 2 years of progressive experience in accounting in public accounting (preferably Big Four accounting firms), international organizations or financial Institutions.
• Languages:Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is preferable.
Requirements
• Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries with residency or legal permit to work in in the selected post of duty.
• Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
• The selected candidate will not provide services from the Bank's office and will not be provided a physical space on the premises of the Bank's Country Office. The candidate selected will be responsible for setting up the space, and for having the equipment, internet, and phone accesses to accomplish these TORs, outside the Bank's office. Access to the Bank's systems will be arranged in coordination with the Bank.
Type of contract and duration
• National Consultant (Local Remote Modality), 12 months.
