About this position

The Technology and Transformation Department (TTD) is seeking an innovative, collaborative, and inquisitive Agile Coach who is eager to play a crucial role in TTD’s transformational journey at the IDB. As an Agile Coach, you will be instrumental in shifting TTD from a traditional project-centric approach to a dynamic product-oriented operating model. Your mission will involve deeply assessing the current Agile maturity within the IDB and guiding the cultural and structural transformation transition towards an Agile-centric way of working.

What you’ll do

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of Agile maturity levels at the IDB and provide strategic support to TTD in implementing Agile principles, practices, and frameworks within product teams.
  • Deliver hands-on coaching and mentoring to individuals, teams, and stakeholders across all levels of the IDB, facilitating their understanding and adoption of Agile principles, frameworks, practices, mindsets, and methodologies, including Scrum, Kanban, Lean Startup, and DevSecOps.
  • Facilitate workshops, training sessions, and Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Develop Agile competencies within Product teams by promoting a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and customer-centricity. Provide coaching on effective feedback loops, backlog management, prioritization, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Evangelize Agile principles and practices throughout the IDB, cultivating a culture of continuous learning. Stay informed about current and emerging trends in Agile methodologies and frameworks to keep the organization at the forefront.
  • Deliver consistent progress updates and detailed reports to leadership on the advancement of Agile maturity initiatives.
  • Monitor progress towards Agile maturity and adjust strategies and tactics as needed.
  • Assist employees and stakeholders in comprehending and implementing an empirical approach to managing complex work.
  • Foster collaboration among stakeholders and ensure seamless communication with Scrum Teams.
  • Guide team members in understanding and embracing Agile principles, values, and practices.

What you'll need

Education: Master’s degree in Agile related disciplines such as Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, Project Management, Organizational Development, or Management.  An equivalent number of years of professional experience may be substituted in lieu of the degree, if the experience directly aligns to the aforementioned areas of discipline.

Experience: 5 years of on-the-job experience in Agile coaching and transformation initiatives is required. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in organizations that successfully transitioned from project to product, as part of those transformation efforts, in a formal leadership or contributor role Advanced proficiency in using productivity and work management software tools such as Microsoft Office, Miro, JIRA or similar tools. One or more certifications from recognized certification bodies for Agile and Lean, including Certifications such as Certified/Professional ScrumMaster (CSM/PSM), Certified Scrum Professional (CSP), Certified/Professional Product Owner (CSPO/PSPO) or others. Demonstrated expertise and experience in advanced Agile and Lean practices, including scaling techniques, multi-team planning and coordination, value stream mapping, Kaizen events, road mapping and similar enterprise-level functions.

Languages: Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is preferable.

Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries.  

Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.

Type of contract and duration

· Type of contract: National Consultant (National Remote Modality) / International Consultant, Washington D.C - On site

· Length of contract: 12 months (Up to 36 Months).

· Work Location: National Remote Modality where the IDB has an office or Washington D.C - On site
