About this position
We are seeking a Capital Markets Operational Consultant to support the Regulation Focus Group within the Connectivity, Markets, and Finance Division. The consultant will be part of a multidisciplinary team working on capital markets regulation and supervision, financial sector policy and regulatory frameworks, and institutional capacity development for central banks, financial regulators, and other financial authorities.
The role supports the Division’s broader work across key financial sector themes, including capital markets, payments, fintech, sustainability, and the supranational regulatory agenda, and contributes to the coordination of analytical, policy, and operational initiatives in the region
The Connectivity, Markets and Finance division belongs to the Institutions for Development department. The division works to strengthen the capacity of the public financial sector to mobilize resources and catalyze capital for development. We focus on effective capital market development and innovative financial structuring and solutions to facilitate private investment and ensure inclusive and sustainable development.
What you’ll do
- Coordinate the activities for the Regional Public Good RG-T4880 to support the IDBpay initiative across Latin America and the Caribbean. Also, support other Technical Cooperations.
- Assist and support the IFD/CMF team of specialists in implementing technical assistance on capital markets, banking, and in general, financial sector regulation and supervision. Collaborate directly with financial authorities in the region.
- Technical support in drafting loan documents, technical cooperation, and other tasks on the division's operational program.
- Support with collecting and processing data, preparing academic documents, and public policies based on them. Knowledge of the Refinitiv platform (formerly Reuters) will be preferred.
- Support in preparing presentations, documents for the roadshow of Bank products, public policy agendas, among others.
- Support the organization and logistics of events for the various IFD/CMF-related networks.
- Assist the CMF team in convening meetings, conducting research, designing questions, evaluating discussions, and following up on discussions between the IDB and representatives of countries in the region, together with the country offices, to identify relevant actors to execute the activities, within the framework of technical cooperation managed by the Division.
- Support in administrative processes, such as consultant hiring, oversight of deliverable content, and logistical support for meeting organization, among others.
- Support in the necessary steps for the publication, translation, and dissemination of academic and other documents issued by the Division. Social media management and design skills will be considered a plus.
What you'll need
- Education: Master's degree in Economy, Administration Finance or related fields.
- Experience: From 5 to 9 years of experience in the following:
- Public, private or academic sector in capital markets, banking, and the Fintech sector supervision and regulation.
- Experience in database management, and knowledge of the Refinitiv platform will be an advantage.
- Experience in the management of information search tools and in the preparation of reports and diagnoses.
- Knowledge of international standards and best practices for regulation, supervision and management of capital markets.
- Languages: Proficiency in English and one of the other Bank official languages (Spanish, French or Portuguese) is required.

- Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries. Must be eligible to work in job location(s) without the need for sponsorship.
- Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
Type of contract and duration
Local Remote Consultant Full-Time, 12 months (up to 48 months, subject to eligibility) rendered 100% remotely from place of residence of the selected candidate. Services are expected to be provided from a country where the IDB Group has offices.
