About this position
We are looking for a self-motivated, results driven, analytical Economics Intern. As the Economics Intern, you will conduct research and reviews; collect, organize and analyze economic and statistical data.
You will work in the Economics Unit of CCB/CBA department. This team is responsible for economic research and analysis; knowledge products and dissemination; policy monitoring and advisory services
What you’ll do
- Conduct research and reviews on assigned economic and development topics.
- Collect, organize and analyze economic and statistical data.
- Assist in drafting analytical reports, briefs and presentations.
- Contribute to the preparation of background material for missions, meetings and publications.
- Monitor and summarize relevant economic news, policies and trends in Barbados.
- Support ad-hoc tasks within the department including data visualization and preparation of charts, tables and graphs.
- Support Country Strategy dissemination by providing logistical and research support for consultations, workshops or presentations.
- Prepare short summaries of the Country Strategy tailored for different audiences (e.g., government partners, private sector, civil society).
- Summarize feedback from stakeholders and prepare notes or reports.
What you'll need
• Education: An active Graduate Student in Economics, Development Studies, International Relations or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role.
• Languages:
- Proficiency in English
• Technical Skills:
- Research and Analysis, Data management and quantitative skills, MS Excel, Stata, EViews, Power BI, Tableau or similar tools/software
Requirements
• Citizenship:
- You are a citizen or legal resident of Barbados.
• Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
• First job at the IDB Group: Be a first-time participant in an Internship Program held by the Bank or Inter-American Investment Corporation (“Corporation” also known as “IDB Invest”). In addition, you have not been a former staff member, Complementary Workforce (“CW”), contractor for the Bank or the Corporation, or have previously provided services to the Bank or the Corporation through a contractor or under any other contractual modality.
