About this position

We are looking for a motivated, detail‑oriented, and client‑focused Corporate Procurement Senior Associate / Specialist.

You will work in the Corporate Procurement Group, part of the Budget and Administrative Services Department (BDA) under the Vice Presidency of Finance (VPF). This team provides procurement and contracting services to Bank Departments at Headquarters and Country Offices, including services rendered to IDB Invest under the applicable Service Level Agreement (SLA). Within that context, this role will contribute to the delivery of procurement services to IDB Invest, helping ensure timely execution, sound process management, and consistent service in alignment with institutional policies, business needs, and agreed service expectations.

The role combines hands-on responsibility for procurement transactions and contracting processes with regular interaction with internal clients to clarify requirements, guide next steps, provide practical advice throughout the procurement cycle, and help ensure appropriate follow-through on contract-related actions. The position also contributes to the sound application of procurement processes and to the efficient, transparent, and value-for-money use of institutional resources.

What you’ll do

  • Deliver corporate procurement services to IDB Invest under the SLA, ensuring timely execution and compliance with established policies, guidelines, and procedures.
  • Manage procurement processes for goods and services, including solicitations, evaluations, negotiations, contractual documentation, and contract administration for standard and moderately complex cases.
  • Partner with internal clients to define needs, advise on procurement strategies and requirements, align timelines and documentation, and support follow-through across the procurement and contract cycle.
  • Prepare and review procurement documents, including solicitations, evaluation reports, supplier analyses, and contracts.
  • Conduct supplier and commercial analyses, including cost and non-price evaluations, to support sound procurement decisions.
  • Monitor contract administration, compliance, records, and key milestones, including expirations, renewals, and follow-up actions, to ensure continuity of service.
  • Contribute to workload planning and process improvements to strengthen responsiveness and service continuity.
  • Support procurement data quality, reporting, transparency, service monitoring, and management information.

What you'll need

Education: Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Business Administration, Procurement, Finance, Law, Economics, Project Management, or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role. C.P.M. and/or C.P.S.M. is a plus.

Experience:

  • At least 3 years of progressive experience for the Senior Associate level, or 4 years for the Specialist level, in procurement, contract management, sourcing, corporate services, or related areas.
  • Experience managing procurement and contracting for goods and services, including competitive processes, evaluations, contract documentation, and administration.
  • Experience advising internal clients in a service-oriented environment with practical, solution-focused guidance.
  • Experience coordinating with suppliers and internal stakeholders to advance procurement processes efficiently and on time.
  • Commercial negotiation, supplier engagement, and sound analytical judgment are desirable.
  • Experience using procurement systems, reporting tools, or analytics to support planning, tracking, and management information is highly desirable.

Languages: Proficiency in English and Spanish, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of French or Portuguese is preferable.

Requirements

Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of the IDB Group’s 48 member countries. Assistance with relocation and visa applications may be provided, as applicable.

Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.

Type of contract and duration

International staff contract, 36 months initially, renewable upon mutual agreement.
