About this position

We are looking for a highly skilled, motivated, and innovative Corporate Services Consultant. You will work in the Services to the Board, Committees and Management Section (SEC/STB), which is part of the Office of the Secretary (SEC) of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).  You will contribute to the decision-making process of the IDB Group's Boards and Committees by supporting the preparation of official records of their deliberations and decisions, including drafting minutes, summaries, and reports. In addition, you will support the review and preparations of Board and Committee records for publication on the Bank’s website, ensuring compliance with applicable disclosure policies and procedures.

SEC/STB provides coordination, secretariat services, and administrative support to the IDB Group's executive decision-making bodies, including the IDB and IIC Boards of Governors and their committees, the IDB and IIC Boards of Executive Directors and their committees, the MIF Donors Committee, and IDB Management committees.

What you’ll do

  • Prepare summaries of deliberations and minutes of meetings, that provide a concise, structured, and accurate account of the proceedings, main topics discussed, areas of consensus and divergence, conclusions, and meeting outcomes.
  • Coordinate the review of draft minutes with relevant parties, process translation requests, and post them on the SEC website for consideration and approval by the corresponding body.
  • Prepare issue notes for review by SEC Coordinators, providing background on matters to be discussed in committee meetings, potential discussion topics, and expected outcomes to facilitate effective meeting preparation.
  • Support the organization's review of Board and Committees' records for disclosure on the Bank's website in accordance with the Access to Information Policy, and document processes, work flows and best practices.
  • Contribute to maintaining and updating SEC repositories, portals and websites (internal and external) and tracking tools for accountability and transparency.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of processes, develop innovative solutions to address client and business needs, and make effective use of IDB tools, systems, and technology to enhance efficiency and service delivery

What you'll need

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in law, political science, economics, public policy, international relations, linguistics, journalism, or communications, and/or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role.
  • Experience:
    • 2 years of progressive experience in multilateral development organizations or public sector experience in one of our 48-member countries will be valued.
    • Preference will be given to knowledge related to access to information and transparency policies or frameworks. 
    • Experience with drafting concise summaries of meeting deliberations, statements, and technical documents under tight deadlines.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively interact with senior staff and Board members.
    • Discretion to manage confidential and sensitive information.
    • Attention to detail and ability to work independently as well as part of a team and work well under pressure with flexibility and a cooperative attitude.
    • Understanding of the IDB’s governance, policies, institutional priorities, and business model would be a plus. 
  • Languages: Proficiency in English and Spanish, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is preferable.

Requirements

  • Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries. We may offer assistance with relocation and visa applications for you and your eligible dependents).  
  • Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.

 

Type of contract and duration

  • International consultant Full-Time, 15 months (up to 48 months, subject to eligibility).
