About this position
We are looking for a dynamic operations consultant. As operations consultant you be a part of the Operations team within the Education Division and will contribute to the processing and monitoring of the IDB education division operations portfolio, including technical cooperations, loans and investment grants.
You will work in the Education Division part of Social Sector department. This team is responsible for formulating public policy solutions to reduce poverty and improve the delivery of education. The objective is to advance a more productive region, with equal opportunities for men and women, and greater inclusion of the most vulnerable groups.
The operations consultant will be responsible for operations monitoring as well as document editing and processing.
What you’ll do
The primary responsibilities of the selected candidate include, but are not limited to:
- Provide support to the preparation, processing, and distribution of proposals for operation development, loan documents, and technical cooperation documents.
- Draft and proofread documents related to technical cooperations and loan proposals to ensure compliance with the Bank’s editorial guidelines.
- Review operational documents to ensure accuracy, completeness, quality of the final product, and proper application of relevant guidelines.
- Provide guidance to project team members on Bank processing procedures, monitor compliance with the operational calendar, and adjust timing when necessary.
- Establish and monitor the processing timeline, proactively following up on relevant milestones to meet approval target dates.
- Collect, register, and maintain project-related documentation in accordance with established procedures and policies.
- Maintain internal systems with up-to-date information regarding the status of portfolio operations.
- Advise project teams on procurement policies, as well as on the hiring process and payment processing for consultancies and non-consulting services financed by the assigned operations.
- Follow up on the complete and timely closure of operations, support the delivery of reports for loans and technical cooperations, and assist team members with these processes.
- Provide information on the status of operations, update corporate operational databases, prepare periodic reports on the execution of technical cooperations and loans, and undertake communication responsibilities related to operational tasks.
What you'll need
- Education: Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting or other relevant field.
- Experience: At least 2 years of progressive experience in business administration, accounting or other relevant field.
- Languages: Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is preferable.

- Type of contract: International Consultant Full-Time
- Length of contract: 12 months (up to 36 months).
- Location: On site, Washington, DC.
