About this position
We are looking for a dynamic, strategic, and communicative External Relations Consultant. As an External Relations Consultant, you will support the efforts of the External Affairs unit to build and maintain relationships with key people including international organizations, and other partners.
You will work in the External Affairs Unit as part of the External Affairs and Communications Department. This team is responsible for strengthening the IDB's visibility and influence in the international development community, fostering strategic relationships, and ensuring effective communication of the IDB's initiatives and achievements.
What you’ll do
- Support the efforts of the unit to build and maintain relationships with key people, including government officials, international organizations, and private sector partners.
- Create and share messages that explain the IDB's goals, projects, and achievements.
- Support the organization of important meetings and conferences with the President and other senior IDB officials.
- Support senior management with external relations and communication strategies.
- Prepare reports and briefings for senior management on external relations, activities, meetings, and outcomes.
- Work with internal teams to ensure external communication strategies match the IDB's mission and goals.
- Keep track of and analyze external developments that could affect the IDB's external relations strategy
What you'll need
-Education: Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent advanced degree) in International Relations, Public Policy, or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role.
-Experience: At least 2 years of progressive experience in external relations, public affairs, or a related field.
-Languages:
Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is a plus.

• Citizenship:
- (IDB/ IDB LAB - International) You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries. We may offer assistance with relocation and visa applications for you and your eligible dependents.
• Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.

- International: International Consultant contract, 12 months
