About this position

We are looking for a strong client focused and innovative Fiduciary Consultant for the Country Office in The Bahamas. As Fiduciary Consultant, you will provide support to the Financial Management Senior Specialist (FMS) in overseeing and monitoring fiduciary aspects operations, while also contributing to the development of fiduciary and institutional capacity within executing agencies.

You will work in the fiduciary team which plays a critical role in ensuring the effective and efficient use of the Bank's development resources. It is responsible for designing and supervising the financial management and procurement components of the Bank's operations. This fiduciary function is integral to the Bank's mission of improving lives across the region.

What you will do

  • Coordinate and follow up on fiduciary and institutional assessments of executing agencies. Prepare visit reports summarizing findings and recommended actions using Bank’s standard format.
  • Compile data and prepare reports, briefings, and presentations as required. Extract relevant information from Bank systems to support official missions, portfolio reviews, and fiduciary monitoring.
  • Draft correspondence to Executing Units.
  • Organize logistics for fiduciary workshops and training sessions.
  • Liaise with Operations Associates and support the analysis of recommendations and responses to queries from executing agencies.
  • Support the analysis and processing of disbursement requests from borrowers and executing agencies.
  • Assist FMS in conducting ex-post reviews of disbursement activities.
  • Support the review of financial reports submitted by Executing Units.
  • Assist in conducting fiduciary risk analyses for projects.
  • Conduct preliminary reviews of fiduciary-related sections in Project Profiles, Plans of Operations, and Program for Operational Development documents.
  • Manage fiduciary-related correspondence.
  • Monitor progress on fiduciary business plans.
  • Collect and compile financial management data for business intelligence purposes.
  • Assist Executing Agencies in use of fiduciary systems.

What you will need

•    Education: Master's Degree or equivalent in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field. CPA or ACCA Certification is desirable. 

•    Experience: Minimum of five years of relevant professional experience in the public or private sector, or within international organizations.

  • Area of Expertise: Experience in financial management and administration of projects.

•    Languages:  Proficiency in English (reading, writing and speaking). Knowledge of other Bank official languages (Spanish, French or Portuguese) is an asset.

 

Requirements

  • Citizenship: You are either a citizen of The Bahamas or a citizen of one of our 48-member countries with residency or legal permit to work in The Bahamas
  • Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
     

Type of contract and duration

Type of Contract: National Consultant Full-Time

Length of Contract: 12 months, renewable based on business needs and availability of budget (up to 36 months)

Place of Work: IDB Country Office, The Bahamas
