About this position
We are seeking a strategic Human Resources Lead Specialist with demonstrated experience in leading strategic human capital initiatives across the full employee lifecycle and advising senior leadership on complex organizational and people matters as well as a strong client-centric orientation to lead the HRBP team supporting the Bank’s strategic, corporate departments and board services.
This role requires an accomplished HR leader with deep experience partnering with senior executives, advising on complex people matters, and translating business strategy into forward-looking HR solutions. The selected candidate will exercise thought leadership in the implementation of the IDB’s institutional strategy and HR policies, serving as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to senior leaders to proactively address organizational design, talent management, workforce planning, performance management, and culture-related priorities.
In this capacity, the incumbent will report to the HRD General Manager and serve as a member of the Human Resources Department leadership team. HRD is responsible for the development and stewardship of the IDB Group’s human capital strategy and oversees the full employee lifecycle, ensuring effective implementation of the People Strategy in direct support of the Bank’s mission.

What you’ll do
- Establish and maintain a strong relationship with IDB management team and functional leaders on the development and implementation of the people strategy bringing an outside in HR perspective and understanding client expectations.
- Facilitate strategic conversations with business leaders to identify their talent pipeline requirements and to develop and execute a business-driven workforce and succession planning aligned with their business strategy.
- Along with the heads of HR BP groups for Operations, Private and Regions, co-lead the rollout of the annual talent review process, the promotion exercise and the annual workforce call and play an advisory role in the management and resolution of performance cases.
- Advice and present insights garnered to analysis in the way that influence and supports the leadership of IDB and HRD in its decision-making process from a strategic human capital perspective.
- Partner with the broader HRD ecosystem on the Co creation and implementation of solutions strategies and policies regarding organizational development talent management and performance compensation and benefits employee relations and workforce planning and play a key advisory role in the management and resolution of complex performance and employee relations cases, including sensitive matters with legal and policy implications.
- Provide feedback and insights on the effectiveness and impact of the HR policies to shape the development
- Updates and implementation of policies and processes may lead the work streams related to developing and aligning HR policies to business needs.
- Provide thought leadership and direction to the HR business partners and more junior team members, monitor the quality of outputs achievements of goals and annual objectives of the team.
What you'll need
Education: Master's degree or equivalent in human resources management organizational development business administration, psychology or related field
Experience: You have at least six (6) years of experience occupying senior HR management roles in a multinational environment and fostering an impact driven and client centric HR. Minimum of three years of experience leading teams, is advantageous. A proven track record as an HRBP and in building and leading high performing teams with client service orientation is essential.
Systems: Proficiency with Microsoft Office, human capital management software, case management tools; web-based applications; and knowledge of HURIS software systems.
Skills: Demonstrable ability to analyze and improve work processes, examine procedures, develop sound proposals, and successfully implement policies. Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, working with large data sets, communicating findings, and establishing and tracking program metrics. Excellent communication skills with ability to interface with all levels of the organization, influence decision-makers, and set and manage expectations. Demonstrated ability to lead/mentor in a team environment where collaboration, motivation, and knowledge transfer process are critical for success. Plus:
- Extensive knowledge of leading HR programs systems and practices with a focus on talent management
- Ability to bring innovative and workable concepts and ideas to meet clients’ needs translating them into policies processes and systems.
- Strong business acumen and clear understanding of market trends, competition and culture.
- Ability to understand business goals and recommend new approaches, policies and procedures to drive continual improvement in business objectives, productivity and development
- Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to quickly establish and maintain trust and credibility with all stakeholders
- Sound judgment and emotional intelligence.
- People management, including the ability to organize and delegate work, motivate coach and develop staff.

Languages: Oral and written proficiency in English required; knowledge of Spanish, Portuguese and/or French is a plus.

Type of contract and duration
International staff contract, 36 months initially, renewable upon mutual agreement.
