We improve lives

IDB Invest is the private sector arm of the IDB Group and an international financial institution committed to addressing the development needs of Latin America and the Caribbean. Our mission is to support sustainable enterprises and projects that deliver financial results while maximizing social and environmental impact in the region.

IDB Invest operates in 26 countries, structured across four geographic regions and three industry verticals: Infrastructure and Energy, Financial Intermediaries, and Corporates.

In support of a new transformative business model “Originate to Share” our shareholders recently approved a $3.5 billion capitalization. This will allow IDB Invest to significantly scale up its investments, nearly doubling annual financing from approximately $8 billion to $19 billion, and unlocking greater private sector participation to drive development and climate impact across the region.

IDB Invest has reorganized its structure to implement this new business model, creating the Financial Solutions, Mobilization, and Asset Sharing (FSM) Department. This department will support the industries and regions department in structuring transactions, mobilizing assets for investors, and managing the equity business.

About this position

The FSM Department is establishing a Talent Pipeline of highly qualified investment professionals, Senior Associates and Officers to strengthen the Blended Finance Division. This talent pool will enable the division to respond rapidly to emerging business needs and support growth initiatives with pre-vetted professionals.

The Blended Finance Division strategically deploys concessional funding alongside private and commercial capital to unlock high-impact investments that face financing barriers. Working across IDB Invest, the Division deploys third-party funding into innovative blended investment structures through a range of instruments, including concessional debt, equity, guarantees, outcome-based finance, and grant-based technical assistance.  As a Senior Associate or Officer, you will bring a passion for investing for impact and expertise in financial structuring and development economics, contributing to either investment execution or fund management.

Ideal candidates will possess robust financial and credit analysis skills in an impact investing setting (fund or development finance institutions) and should have some structuring experience across a range of instruments (debt, equity, credit enhancement, guarantees, and performance-based grants) along with demonstrated expertise in blended finance approaches and solutions.

Members of the Blended Finance Division collaborate with diverse and multidisciplinary teams across IDB Invest, working with donors and clients alike, and (i) will contribute to the origination, structuring, execution, and monitoring of blended finance investments, (ii) will support the team’s programming of technical assistance funding, and (iii) will support the engagement and management of donor funds.
