About this position

We are currently searching for a dynamic professional to support the Portfolio Management Division (PTM) in managing, from signature to final repayment, a portfolio of loans, bonds, guarantees, structured finance and equity investments to private sector and non-sovereign-guaranteed counterparts in the Financial Institutions segment and the Corporates & SMEs segment.

 

You will work in the Portfolio Management Division, within the Industries and Cross-cutting Themes Department. This division is responsible for managing and supervising IDB Invest’s portfolio in the region.

What you’ll do

Support Portfolio Management Officers in:

  • Overseeing a portfolio of loans, bonds, guarantees, structured finance and/or equity transactions.
  • Conducting data gathering, validation, and analysis of projects in portfolio to assess counterparty performance, monitor compliance with financing agreements, and mitigate risk.
  • Performing financial statement analysis, analyzing financial projections, preparing risk rating proposals and periodic supervision reports to assess the financial and business standing of our counterparts.
  • Following ongoing developments in the relevant industry sectors and countries, assessing events affecting the portfolio under supervision and, when necessary, disseminating information and recommendations for appropriate action.
  • Engaging with borrowers, sponsors, fund managers, B-lenders, co-lenders, co-investors, agents and internal counterparts, and participating in client monitoring meetings, as applicable.
  • Preparing presentations, performance metrics assessments, and tailored materials for internal and external audiences, and contributing to the development and assessment of developmental effectiveness indicators.
  • Ensuring that counterparts comply with IDB Invest internal risk policies and guidelines, liaising closely with the credit risk management, environmental and social, legal and finance departments, among others.
  • Proposing and supporting actions to improve and streamline internal processes.
  • Providing support to the Portfolio Management Division and the ICT Department in all other tasks required.

 

What you'll need

Education: Bachelor’s degree  in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, Law, Engineering, Development Studies, or relevant field. CFA charter holder or Master’s degree (or MBA) will be considered a plus.

Experience: At least two (2) years of experience in credit assessment and/or rating of financial intermediaries and/or corporate counterparts, gained within a commercial, investment or development bank, financial institution, financial advisory firm and/or rating agency.  

Languages: Proficiency in English and one of the other Bank official languages (Spanish or Portuguese) is required.

•    Citizenship: Must be eligible to work in job locations (Paraguay, Buenos Aires, Uruguay, Chile, or Brazil)  without the need for sponsorship.  

•    Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.

Type of contract and duration

National consultant Full-Time, 36 months (up to 48 months).
