In support of a new transformative business model “Originate to Share” our shareholders recently approved a $3.5 billion capitalization. This will allow IDB Invest to significantly scale up its investments, nearly doubling annual financing from approximately $8 billion to $19 billion, and unlocking greater private sector participation to drive development and climate impact across the region.
IDB Invest has reorganized its structure to implement this new business model, creating the Financial Solutions, Mobilization, and Asset Sharing (FSM) Department. This department will support the Industries and Regions department in structuring transactions, mobilizing assets for investors, and managing the equity business.
About this position
The FSM Department is establishing a pool of highly qualified professionals, ready-to-hire Senior Associates and Officers to strengthen the Trade, Supply Chain and Commodity Finance (TSF). This talent pool will enable the division to respond rapidly to emerging business needs and support growth initiatives with pre-vetted professionals.
Ideal candidates will possess robust financial and credit analysis skills, along with demonstrated expertise in short- and long-term Trade, Supply Chain and Commodity Finance financial products.
Members of the pool will contribute to the origination, structuring, execution, and monitoring of innovative financial solutions, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and engaging diverse stakeholders.
As a Division, in TSF we are responsible for: i) New Product Creation: Product development and standardization, strategic product initiatives execution; ii) Advisory Sales: Origination, structuring and closing of new business with a product component (together with the industries and regions teams); iii) Implementation and retention: Product end-to-end operational deployment, counterparty onboarding, end-to-end systems configuration, systems enhancements, etc. ; Daily execution of transactional/operational matters, including disbursements, payments, prepayments, WACs, etc; and iv) Trade Asset Management (TAM): Mobilization of trade assets (primary and secondary mobilization).
What you’ll do
As senior associate, your key responsibilities will be to:
- Provides leadership and supports the four TSF product functions: New Product Creation, Advisory Sales, Implementation and Retention, and Trade Asset Management.
- Conducts data gathering and in-depth analysis on moderate to complex financial TSF transactions and projects.
- Monitors and tracks transaction, portfolio, and agreement performance; prepares recommendations and escalates issues as needed.
- Performs external analysis of financial, market, and technological trends relevant to TSF financial products.
- Takes initiative as directed, sets up support systems/processes to underpin implementation.
- Builds technical expertise and collaborates across teams to address client/project needs.
In addition to the responsibilities outlined above for the Senior Associate role, as an Officer your key responsibilities will include:
- Provides rigorous analysis on complex projects, processes, or financial transactions.
- Engages in consultations with internal/external clients to determine business and product needs.
- Reviews deliverables, manages implementation issues, and contributes to client-facing presentations.
- Develops technical capabilities and expertise in assigned area.
- Maintain knowledge of industry and transactions including the preparation of lessons learned from projects.
Specific Expertise required:
- Trade, Supply Chain and Commodity Finance Practical exposure to deal origination, structuring, operational deployment and distribution/mobilization of TSF transactions with financial institutions and corporate clients.
- Proven capabilities in client retention strategies and TSF product development, including new product launch and counterparty onboarding.
- Generating pricing data and analyses based on market information through constant contact with partner banks and corporate clients.
What you'll need
- Education: You hold at least a Master’s degree or equivalent in Finance, Business Administration, Economics or other relevant field. Finance-related certifications like CFA, CPA, etc. will be considered a plus.
- Experience: for a Senior Associate at least 3 years and for an Officer at least 5 years of relevant professional experience at a financial institution, corporation, investment fund, multilateral development bank or other relevant private sector entity is required. Experience with artificial intelligence and data analytics tools will be considered a plus.
- Languages: Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is desirable.

- Citizenship:
- For National Staff: You are either a citizen of any of our Country Offices’ locations or a non-citizen eligible to obtain residency or authorization to work in the country in which you are to be assigned without the need for sponsorship by IDB Invest.
- For International Staff: There are no citizenship requirements.
- Consanguinity: No family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
Type of contract and duration
International or National staff contract, 36 months initially, renewable upon mutual agreement.
