About this position
The IDB’s Office of Institutional Integrity (OII) is looking for an Oversight Audit and Compliance Specialist to play a key role in carrying out preventive efforts regarding the identification, assessment and mitigation of integrity and related reputational risks in IDB Group-financed activities.
OII plays a key role in leading the IDB Group’s integrity efforts. As the second line of defense in the IDB for integrity risk management, OII conducts activities designed to identify and manage the risk that Prohibited Practices (which include fraud and corruption) or similar misconduct may occur in IDB Group operations and investigate information in connection with Prohibited Practices in IDB Group-financed activities. Additionally, OII serves as the Anti-Money Laundering/Combating the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) compliance function for the IDB.
What you’ll do
- Utilize expertise to advise IDB Operational Units and external stakeholders regarding the identification, assessment and mitigation of integrity risks (i.e., risks related to fraud, corruption and other prohibited practices and unethical behavior), and its associated impact to the program’s objectives or to the Bank’s reputation in connection with IDB-financed activities.
- Provide technical guidance to and share knowledge with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that IDB-financed activities are free of fraud and corruption.
- Carry out integrity risk analyses for programs or cross-cutting issues.
- Extract lessons learned from OII investigations and risk analyses to recommend possible actions to mitigate integrity risks.
- Contribute to the development of new policies and instruments that enhance the Bank’s ability to detect and reduce integrity risk.
- Work closely and seek synergies with OII’s other functions to assess risks and recommend possible migration measures.
- Support OII in the monitoring of the implementation of recommendations it provides to operational teams to address integrity risks.
- Maintain records and process incoming consultations answered by OII and generating reports for multiple uses.
- Develop capacity building and training materials regarding anti-corruption and the management of integrity risks.
- Provide assistance and support to anti-corruption activities implemented by the Bank.
- Contribute to maintenance of OII's information systems, including electronic files, website and other sources as applicable.
- Work across organizational boundaries and/or disciplines to tackle complex project and technical issues.
- Liaise with other IDB units and IFIs on integrity matters.
- Provide technical guidance to more junior employees.
- Complete all tasks in accordance with the highest standards of integrity, quality, timeliness, and objectivity.
What you'll need
Education: Master’s degree or equivalent post-graduate education in one of the following field(s): law, compliance, business administration, finance, economics, or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 5 years (Specialist) or 4 years (Sr Associate) of combined professional experience that is relevant to the functions described above, with a preference for experience in one or more of the following
areas: investigations, investigative analysis, complex litigation, criminal prosecution, and/or integrity; accountability, compliance, anti-fraud or anti-corruption strategies.
Languages: Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is preferable.

• Staff: International: International staff contract, 36 months initially, renewable upon mutual agreement.
