About this position
We are looking for a Legal Operations Analyst to support and optimize all non-legal aspects of the Legal Department’s functioning. This includes process improvement, technology solutions and adoption, financial management, data analysis, vendor management, knowledge management, and strategic planning. The aim is to enable legal professionals to focus on legal work while ensuring the department operates in alignment with organizational goals.
You will work in the Front Office of the Legal Department under the supervision of the Resource Planning and Administration Officer. Our Legal Department advises Management, the Board of Executive Directors, and the Board of Governors on all legal matters relating to IDB Invest. As part of its functions, the Legal Department provides a full range of legal support to the financing of private sector and non-sovereign guaranteed projects throughout the entire transaction cycle, including origination, portfolio management, and workouts, as well as the development of new products. We also provide legal advice on all institutional and financial matters for IDB Invest, including governance, financial management, institutional integrity, and administration of human resources.
What you’ll do
You will provide support to the Resource Planning and Administration Officer and other Legal Department members, and collaborate with stakeholders in different departments, in the following activities:
- Developing, implementing, and optimizing processes, document workflows, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and identifying opportunities for risk mitigation, as well as leading in the implementation of new workflows and workflow improvements.
- Managing, selecting, and implementing legal technology tools and platforms, including matter management, e-billing, document management, and contract lifecycle systems.
- Collecting, analyzing, and reporting, through presentations, dashboards, and other visual aids, key data and metrics to provide insights into department performance and workload, and to inform decision-making.
- Driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the Legal Department.
- Supporting the management of legal projects, including resource allocation, timeline tracking, and communication between stakeholders.
- Executing knowledge management initiatives and trainings.
- Supporting the departmental budget planning, monitoring, and identifying cost-saving opportunities through legal operations.
- Coordinating relationships with external vendors, such as outside counsel, legal technology providers, and legal service providers, including for RFPs, billing, and performance tracking.
- Supporting change management and the adoption of new processes, technologies, or structures within the Legal Department.
- Stay informed about legal operations trends and best practices to propose innovative solutions that enhance departmental performance and resource utilization.
What you'll need
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, legal studies, engineering, information technology, or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role.
- Experience: At least 2+ years of progressive relevant professional experience in legal departments.
- Languages: Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is preferable.

• Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries.
• Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
Type of contract and duration
International Consultant Full-Time, 19 months (up to 36 months).
Work Location: On-site.
