About this position

To achieve sustainable and equitable development in Latin America and the Caribbean, the Research Department (RES) of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) generates cutting-edge research to inform the policy agenda of the Bank and its member countries. RES maximizes the impact of its research by producing high-quality economic analysis that serves as inputs for Bank departments, governments, academia, and public opinion in the region.

We are looking for a creative, innovative, and versatile Marketing, Event, and Office Support Consultant with a strong strategic focus and exceptional attention to detail. In this role, you will support the Research Department (RES) and its management in a variety of functions, including marketing, event coordination, and administrative support.

As part of the dissemination efforts of the Research Department (RES) you will help promote our knowledge products to broad audiences in Latin America and beyond and assist in organizing high-level events with economists and policymakers from across the region. In parallel, you will provide essential office support to RES management, including processing travel requests, scheduling meetings, coordinating logistics, and assisting supervisors with day-to-day administrative tasks.

What you’ll do

  • Translate complex knowledge products into accessible language and visuals.
  • Execute marketing campaigns aligned with RES’s communications priorities and evolving social media trends.
  • Develop audience segmentation strategies for social media outreach.
  • Promote RES’s 75+ annual events and suggest innovative ways to boost their impact.
  • Create internal marketing content, including written and visual materials.
  • Support event logistics and related administrative tasks like p-card use and invoice tracking.
  • Learn and assist with IDB systems for communications, publication processing, and and assist with related tasks as needed.
  • Coordinate and process travel authorization requests, ensuring full compliance with institutional policies and procedures while supporting seamless travel planning for staff.
  • Provide scheduling support to supervisors, acting as a reliable backup to the Senior Office Assistant by organizing meetings, managing calendars, and facilitating timely communication.
  • Support management with a variety of administrative tasks, contributing to the smooth day-to-day operations of the Research Department through proactive and detail-oriented assistance.

What you'll need

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in communications, graphic design, digital media, marketing, public relations, journalism, business or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience: At least 2 years of progressive experience in marketing and event coordination.
  • Languages: Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of Portuguese is preferable.

  • Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries. We may offer assistance with relocation and visa applications for you and your eligible dependents.
  • Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
