About this position
We are looking for a qualified individual as an Operations Consultant. As an Operations Consultant, you will support the Country Office's Country Representative and the Chief of Operations, Sector and Fiduciary Specialists and Operations Analysts supporting the design and execution of the Bank's operations and other operational responsibilities.
You will work in Operations Team within The Bahamas Country Office. This team aims to improve the execution capabilities of our clients in The Bahamas to effectively implement projects which address the country's challenges towards improving lives. The technical areas of focus which aid in supporting the Government of The Bahamas' agenda include social investment, public sector modernization and reform, energy, and health.
What you’ll do
The objectives of the consultancy will be to provide technical support to the Operations Team for an efficient and effective supervision of the portfolio development operations (loans, grants and TCs).
- Participate in the design of operations supporting the preparation of project documents and monitoring project approval timelines.
- Contribute to the preparation of drafts of project profiles and operational plans for technical cooperation projects.
- Assist in institutional capacity and risk analyses, preparation of project budgets and results frameworks
- Provide technical support to Executing Agencies and Project Implementation Units on Bank operational policies and processes throughout the cycle and on the preparation of Annual Operating Plan and Project Execution Plans, Procurement Plans, Disbursement Requests and other project documentation.
- Support the preparation of project supervision plans, monitoring and results reports, and follow up on their recommendations.
- Assist in the review of terms of references and other procurement documents to ensure the project activities are consistent with procurement and annual operating plans.
- Accompany Sector and Fiduciary Specialists on visits to executing agencies and follow up on recommendations from these visits.
- Coordinate the organization of project-related missions and workshops.
- Collaborate on Project Closure workshops, facilitate data collection for the preparation of the Project Completion Report (PCR); and follow up on the evaluation recommendations as requested.
- Any other tasks or matters requested by the Country Representative and the Chief of Operations.
What you'll need
• Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Engineering, Natural Resources Management, or similar studies. Certification in Project Management and/or Agile Methodology is desirable.
• Experience: At least two to five years of relevant professional experience, preferably in administration of projects financed by multilateral development institutions or other external donors would be an asset.
• Languages:
- Proficiency in spoken and written English is required.
- Proficiency one of the other Bank official languages (Spanish, French or Portuguese) would be an advantage.

• Citizenship:
- (IDB/IDB Lab - National) You are either a citizen of The Bahamas or a citizen of one of our 48-member countries with residency or legal permit to work in The Bahama
• Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
Type of contract and duration
• Consultant:
- National consultant Full-Time, 36 months. (Continuation is subject to a satisfactory performance review every 12 months)
