About this position
We are looking for a proactive, detail-oriented, and analytical Financial Management Consultant. As a Financial Management Consultant, you will support fiduciary oversight and monitoring of operations, while fostering the development of fiduciary and institutional capacity within executing agencies.
You will work in the Financial Management & Procurement team (FMP), part of the Country Office in Suriname. This team is responsible for ensuring the effective and efficient use of the Bank’s development funds and for designing and supervising the financial management and procurement aspects of the Bank’s operations.
What you’ll do
- Arrange and follow-up on fiduciary/institutional inspections and assessments of executing agencies. Prepare visit reports for each inspection visit, summarizing findings and proposed actions using the Bank’s format.
- Compile information, prepare reports, briefings, and presentations as needed, as well as relevant information from the systems for official missions, portfolio review and fiduciary monitoring.
- Assist in the update of Bank systems, draft correspondence to Executing Units.
- Handle logistics for fiduciary workshops and related training sessions.
- Liaise with Operations Associates and provide support analyzing recommendations and responding to queries from executing agencies.
- Provide support in the analysis and processing of disbursement requests from borrower/executing agencies.
- Assist the Fiduciary Specialists in performing ex-post reviews of procurements and disbursements. Provide support in the review of financial reports submitted by Executing Units. Follow-up on fiduciary business plans.
- Assist the Fiduciary Specialists in conducting fiduciary risk analysis of projects.
- Conduct initial review of fiduciary related issues and comments to Project Profiles, Plan of Operations, and Program for Operational Development documents.
- Collect and compile data for procurement and financial management business intelligence.
- Provide assistant to the Executing Agencies in the use of fiduciary systems.
What you'll need
• Education: Bachelor's/Master's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Economics or a related area.
• Experience: At least five years of financial experience working in public/project or private sector, or international organizations.
• Languages: Proficiency in English and Dutch is required. Additional knowledge of Spanish is preferable.
Requirements
• Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries. Must be eligible to work in Surinam without the need for sponsorship.
• Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
Type of contract and duration
- National consultant Full-Time, 12 months (up to 48 months).
