About this position

The Office in Europe is  are looking for a consultant to provide comprehensive technical and operational support partnerships development and resource mobilization efforts in Europe. This role will focus on enhancing the IDB Group’s partnerships and outreach strategies in Europe, in close coordination with GPS team and other IDB Group units, ensuring alignment with our strategic priorities.

You will work in the Office in Europe part of the Global Partnerships Office (GPS). This team is responsible for the strategic outreach and engagement, partnership building and mobilization of financial and non-financial resources with existing and potential partners in Europe to support the Group’s development activities in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) in line with the IDB Group’s strategies and priorities through close coordination with IDB Group’s operational and corporate units and ASI, GCM and REM teams.

EUR, in collaboration with REM and other units, focuses on strengthening alliances with the IDB Group's 16 European member countries, Israel, the European Union, and key European-based partners across the public, private, academic, and non-governmental sectors.

What you’ll do

The selected candidate will perform the following key activities to support GPS-EUR’s efforts in the development and fostering of new and existing partnerships with public and private development players in Europe to expand mobilization opportunities in alignment with the IDB Institutional Strategy with the emphasis on the areas related to climate change, digital transformation, regional integration, and gender equality.

  • Contribute to IDB Group (IDBG)’s operations and activities through strengthening existing partnerships, developing new alliances and mobilizing financial and non-financial external resources in line with the IDBG’s strategic priorities.

  • Identify co-financing opportunities amongst European partners, ensuring to optimize the capacity and impact of IDB operations as well as to meet the strategic priorities and interest of key stakeholders through donor dialogue and coordination.

  • Contribute to the preparation of the IDB Group´s senior management missions in Europe, including the identification of potential partners, schedule coordination, partner intelligence, preparation of agenda, briefing/talking points, and presentation materials as well as the follow up actions and lead contacts.

  • Participate in the organization and execution of events and outreach activities including high-level meetings, workshops, seminars and donor consultation meetings. Assist the design, planning, legal and administrative processes, preparation of presentations and coordination with internal and external partners.

  • Collaborate in EUR’s knowledge sharing, innovation and communication activities in multiple media available (email, in-print, online or social media) to disseminate best practices and lessons-learned in the partnerships, key development tools, among others as well as maintain EUR website and daily news reporting in line with ORP communication strategy.

What you'll need

  • Education: Master’s degree in any one of the following areas: Business Administration, Economics, Law, International Development, International Relations, or equivalent.

  • Experience: A minimum five (5) years of relevant professional experience. Familiarity or experience in the Private Sector-Public Sector Partnerships is a plus but not necessary. 

  • Languages: Proficiency in Spanish and English (oral and written). Proficiency of an additional official Bank language (Portuguese and French) and/or other European language is a plus.

Requirements

•    Citizenship: You are either a citizen of Spain or a citizen of one of our 48-member countries with residency or legal permit to work in Spain.

•    Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
 
 

Type of contract and duration

•   National consultant Full-Time, 12 months (up to 36 months).
