Job Title: Senior Education Specialist or Education Specialist

Location: Cap Haïtien/Port-au-Prince, Haiti.

About this position

We are looking for a dynamic, proactive, motivated senior education specialist or education specialist to lead the IDB education portfolio in Haiti. As senior education specialists or education specialists, you will be responsible for supervising the current portfolio education of grants and technical co-operations, lead strategic sectoral dialogue with government and sector counterparts, and advance the education divisions work in Haiti and the region. 

You will work in the Education Division, part of the Social Sector of the IDB. You will also work in close coordination with the Haiti Country Office. The education division is responsible for support education sectors across Latin America and the Caribbean, proposing and advancing new knowledge and innovation in the sector, engaging in regular dialogue with governments, civil society and technical and financial partners of the Bank.

 

What you’ll do:

  • Lead or collaborate with the dialogue with executing units to support program planning and subsequent implementation by applying project management tools and methods
  • Lead or collaborate with the identification, development and implementation of complex education sector projects, programs, studies or main activities in Haiti
  • Participate in the preparation of knowledge products related to the education sector in Haiti
  • Lead or support the dialogue with the Government of Haiti, donors and other stakeholders active in education sector in Haiti.
  • Liaise and builds networks with international and local technical and financing partners to advance the Bank’s mission and the objectives of the Education Division.
  • Bring technical expertise and effective leadership as a leader/member of multidisciplinary teams within and beyond the business unit
  • Coach junior staff members and consultants.

 

What you'll need

  • Education: Master (or equivalent advanced degree) in education, social development, economics, or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role.  
  • Experience: At least 6 years for the Senior specialist position or 4 years for the specialist position of progressive experience in the education sector, international development, economy, public policy, project management, or related sector.
  • Languages: Fluent in French and proficient in English, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of Spanish and Portuguese is preferable.

Requirements:

  • Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries.
  • Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.

 

Type of contract and duration:

  • Type of contract: International Staff Contract
  • Length of contract: 36 months initially, renewable upon mutual agreement.
  • Haiti is a non-family post. Non-family post is defined as a Country Office whose location the Bank designates as “critical”. In such countries, the staff member's family may not reside nor visit. The selected candidate must comply the terms, conditions and restrictions that may apply according to Bank regulations.
