About this position
We are looking for a highly motivated, experienced, and detail-oriented professional to join our Treasury Operations team as an Analyst. The selected candidate will support the team in various activities on Trade Settlement Operations, Cash and Securities Reconciliation.
You will work in the Treasury Operations team, part of IDB Invest’s Finance Department – Operations Division. The team is responsible for three core functions: disbursement processing for investment transactions; back-office treasury activities including trade settlements, cash management, portfolio servicing, and collateral management; and managing all corporate accounts payable and receivable processes. This team plays a vital role in ensuring operational processes are executed efficiently and with minimal operational risk.
What you’ll do
- Trade Settlement Operations
- Perform trade confirmation process for all fixed income securities trades with counterparts
- Monitor and ensure settlement of investments activities (fixed income securities), funding activities (bonds issued), development related assets and OTC derivatives instruments for Treasury related activities
- Process and record cash, investments, funding, and derivative transactions in systems
- Ensure accurate and smooth portfolio servicing for all trades which includes also fees, interest, and maturity payments
- Processing payments through manual creation of SWIFT messages, if required
- Monitor and resolve pre-trade/post-trade discrepancies
- Participate in transaction review meetings on behalf of the Treasury Operation’s team
- Cash and Securities Reconciliation
- Perform daily reconciliation of securities positions between internal systems and custodians
- Support the team as back-up for the daily cash reconciliation of bank accounts.
- Ensure all corporate actions are correctly captured in internal systems.
What you'll need
Education: Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent advanced degree) in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Law, or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role.
Experience: At least 4 years of progressive experience with a successful track record of achieving high quality results and delivering valuable client services to meet team and departmental objectives; expertise of fixed income trade settlement, OTC derivatives market, Treasury Management Systems, and international payment systems preferred.
Languages: Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is preferable.
Core capabilities:
- Demonstrate strong working knowledge of pre/post trade settlement processes of Fixed Income, Derivative and Cash Instruments and financial calculations.
- Experience working with Treasury Management Systems, ACBS, Bloomberg AIM and People Soft Treasury module will be desirable
- Working knowledge of SWIFT messages related to securities settlements and bank transfers is highly desirable.
- Ability to use technology to improve and advance new and existing processes
- Ability to work in a high-pressure environment while multi-tasking and prioritizing based on provided risk metrics.
- Ability to listen actively, obtain necessary input, share ideas, speak persuasively, and convey information in a clear, objective, and concise manner.
Requirements
Citizenship: You are either a citizen of Costa Rica or with residency or legal permit to work in Costa Rica.
Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
Type of contract and duration
National staff contract, 36 months initially, renewable upon mutual agreement.
