About this position
The Office of the Executive Auditor (AUG) has a Mission to increase the likelihood of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) Group achieving its goals and objectives through the provision of independent and objective assurance and consulting services on governance, risk management, and control processes, in accordance with ethical and relevant professional standards, and improvements to the organization’s accountability and transparency for results.
The AUG Strategy and Risk Based Annual Plans (RBAP) include a variety of demands that are incorporated in audit engagements as well as cross-cutting departmental initiatives.
AUG is looking for a skilled, analytical, and proactive audit consultant to support the delivery of the Risk Based Audit Plans (RBAPs).
As AUG Consultant, you will perform audit-related work in accordance with audit standards and AUG procedures, needed for the achievement of AUG strategic goals while helping the completion of the IDB, IDB Invest, and IDB Lab’s RBAPs by contributing to individual audit engagements covering governance and control environment, operations with sovereign and non-sovereign guaranteed, information technology resources, as well as, IT governance, corporate, administration and risk management matters.
You will work with a strongly motivated, fast-paced, innovative and high-quality team in AUG together with players in the rest of the IDB Group promoting the good governance and management of emerging and transformational solutions.

What you’ll do
- Perform audit-related work in country offices including IT general and application controls, in accordance with audit standards and AUG procedures, needed for the completion of specific engagements.
- Support the periodic risk assessment of the dimensions, segments and processes of the audit universe, as well as to the risk assessment, planning, fieldwork, reporting and follow up of individual audit engagements. This may include the analysis of the governance and control environment, operations, the financial, human capital and information technology resources, as well as the IT governance, corporate, administration and risk management matters.
- Develop data analytics objectives and procedures for the assigned engagements; and support the data collection, validation, normalization, and analysis, as well as reporting and documentation of results.
- Conduct research and technical analysis of information to support audit teams with technical audit work, in accordance with timelines established by the audit leads.
- Apply technical concepts, methodologies, tools, and techniques to assist the audit teams on operational activities of the IDB Group at Country Offices necessary to appraise the effectiveness and adequacy of processes, management systems, controls and compliance with norms and procedures.
- Participate in the drafting of a variety of planning documents, including work programs, audit reports, as well as participating in client interviews, conducting risk assessments, assessing and testing controls.

- As required, coordinate work with others within and beyond AUG to meet business objectives.
What you'll need
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Finance, Management Information Systems, or related fields such as Program Development, Monitoring, or Business Analysis, software engineering, and computing science. Professional certifications such as Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC), or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or having experience in data analytics and operations are a plus.
- Experience: At least 2 years of progressive professional experience in relevant business areas within international financial institutions, multilateral development banks, external audit. Relevant experience in the following areas will be considered a strong asset for this role:
o Use of data analytics, continuous auditing, artificial intelligence, or similar techniques to enhance internal auditing, present results, and draw insights to support engagement with supervision and guidance.
o Conducting integrated audits covering business processes, technology and data.
o Performing first- or second-line risk management type functions in addition to audit responsibilities.
o Working in an IDB Group country office or other Multilateral Development Bank, particularly in operations with and without sovereign guarantee.
- Languages: Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is preferable.

- Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries.
- Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
