We improve lives

The IDB Group is a community of diverse, versatile, and passionate people who come together on a journey to improve lives in Latin America and the Caribbean. Our people find purpose and do what they love in an inclusive, collaborative, agile, and rewarding environment.

IDB Invest is the private sector arm of the IDB Group and an international financial institution committed to addressing the development needs of Latin America and the Caribbean. Our mission is to support sustainable enterprises and projects that deliver financial results while maximizing social and environmental impact in the region.

IDB Invest operates in 26 countries, structured across four geographic regions and three industry verticals: Infrastructure and Energy, Financial Intermediaries, and Corporates.

In support of a new transformative business model “Originate to Share” our shareholders recently approved a $3.5 billion capitalization. This will allow IDB Invest to significantly scale up its investments, to approximately $19 billion, and unlock greater private sector participation to drive development and climate impact across the region.

About this position

We are seeking dynamic and experienced Lead Investment Officers to join the Mobilization & Asset Sharing Division. The candidate should be an experienced banker with deep expertise in the structuring of debt products—including syndicated loans, B Loans, B Bonds, project finance, and other credit instruments—that are broadly distributed in the market, and a demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients, investors, and internal stakeholders that will contribute to the scaling up of the mobilization of assets.

The Lead Investment Officer is a senior professional responsible for embedding mobilization and distribution considerations in the origination, structuring, and placement of IDB Invest’s transactions within their respective geography. Depending on the post of duty, this role will report to either the Director – Distribution & Investor Relations, the Director – Syndications Origination, or have dual reporting to both, based on the strategic priorities, deal flow, and market dynamics of each hub.

To align with the Originate to Share business model, this role serves as a regional anchor for the Mobilization & Asset Sharing Division across Latin America and the Caribbean, working closely with Delivery Units, clients, and the investor community in the region. The Lead Investment Officer will play a critical role in scaling up mobilization volumes, deepening investor engagement, and positioning IDB Invest as a market leader in the origination and distribution of marketable development finance assets in Brazil, the Andean region, and Mexico and Central America, respectively.  On this vacancy we are looking to fill three positions.

What you’ll do

  • Support the Directors in the development and implementation of the mobilization and asset sharing strategy in the region, aligning initiatives with IDB Invest’s Originate to Share business model and mobilization targets.
  • Serve as the primary point of reference for investment teams in the region on how to structure transactions with an eye toward distribution, ensuring that assets are originated with market parameters that facilitate the mobilization of third-party capital.
  • Act as a focal point syndicated debt transactions in the region, advising on optimal terms, pricing, tenor, covenants, and documentation standards to maximize the attractiveness of IDB Invest’s assets across the full suite of mobilization products, including A/B Loans, B Bonds (Private Placement and 144A), Syndicated Co-financings, Unfunded Credit Protection, Unfunded Risk Participations, and Managed Accounts.
  • Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with clients (corporate borrowers, financial institutions, and infrastructure sponsors) and with local, regional, and international investors, including commercial and investment banks, asset managers, insurance companies, pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, DFIs, and impact investors.
  • Lead the execution of primary and secondary distribution efforts in the region, including sell-down processes, in close coordination with origination and portfolio management teams.
  • Provide market intelligence, structuring advice, and pricing guidance to origination teams, drawing on deep knowledge of the syndicated loan and local capital markets, investor appetite, and comparable transaction benchmarks to inform credit committee presentations and investment decision memoranda.
  • Conduct investor roadshows, one-on-one meetings, and targeted outreach programs with local and regional investors to deepen market understanding of IDB Invest’s value proposition, Preferred Creditor Status, and product offerings.
  • Lead the preparation of syndication strategies, term sheets, information memoranda, teasers, investor presentations, and other marketing materials required to support the primary and secondary distribution of IDB Invest’s assets.
  • Champion the continuous development and adaptation of mobilization products to address local market conditions, including local currency structures, risk-transfer instruments, and portfolio-level solutions relevant to the region.
  • Contribute to the coverage of specific investor accounts and industry verticals as part of the division’s global coverage model, ensuring consistent engagement and knowledge sharing across geographies.
  • Promote knowledge sharing by disseminating market best practices, representing the division in internal and external forums, and contributing to the development of new origination and distribution frameworks and product governance processes.
