About this position

We are looking for a motivated, proactive and client-centric Technology and Digital Transformation Consultant with proven expertise in supporting the design, development, and implementation of digital solutions and services that can add value to IDB client’s strategic priorities.

The selected candidate will support the advisory services provided to the Sector Operational Teams by leveraging technical expertise to ensure: 1) the technical fit between the digital solution and the business objectives; 2) the integration of adoption and sustainability practices; and 3) the successful development and implementation of digital solutions, aligned with the institutional and sector-specific contexts.

What you’ll do

Assist in translating operational teams’ needs into initial technical requirements and digital solution concepts.

Support project preparation and execution tasks, including information gathering, digital component supervision, review and feedback.

Research case studies, knowledge products, and other documentation, that capture insights and lessons from digital transformation efforts across projects to improve replicability, synergies and efficiencies amongst projects.

Provide sound recommendations towards technologies relevant to the project to facilitate the design, development and implementation of digital solutions and project components.

Provide feedback in the evaluation of digital solutions’ project plans, milestones, and implementation processes meeting deadlines as established by the project.

Provide inputs to ensure digital solutions or digital components’ strategic alignment.

Identify -digital- transformation opportunities and propose action plans to seize and implement them.

Provide guidance to the sector clients on technology components and digital solutions.

Support coordination between internal or external service providers and project teams to ensure the successful delivery of solutions.

Review Project documentation and provide feedback and improvement recommendations in digital technology matters including digital solution scoping and estimation.

Support in the creation and review of documentation related to specifications for the procurement of digital solutions, services and/or hiring of consulting firms

What you'll need

•    Education: Master’s degree (or equivalent advanced degree) in Computer Sciences, Information Technology, Engineering or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role.  

•    Experience: At leastfive (5) years of relevant experience in the information technology field and working with a wide range of technologies. At least three (3) years of experience delivering technology-based business services and solutions. Demonstrated advanced experience and knowledge in more than one of the following areas (please ensure these are clearly described in your resumé): IT systems architecture and design, technology integration across diverse platforms and systems, cloud computing environments, software and/or infrastructure specifications, digital transformation, and agile methodology. The ideal candidate will also have a strong track record of overseeing IT consulting firms and/or the implementation of digital solutions by third-party vendors in Latin America and Caribbean (LAC).   

•    Languages: Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is preferable.

Requirements

•    Citizenship: You are either a citizen of one of our 48-member countries eligible to obtain a valid residency or legal permit to work in one of these countries without the need for sponsorship by the IDB.

•    Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
 
•    Local Remote Modality: The selected candidate will not provide services from the Bank's office and will not be provided a physical space on the premises of the Bank's Country Office. The candidate selected will be responsible for setting up the space, and for having the equipment, internet, and phone accesses to accomplish these TORs, outside the Bank office. Access to the Bank‚ systems will be arranged in coordination with the Bank.

Type of contract and duration

•    Consultant:  National Consultant (Local Remote Modality), 12 months (up to 36 months).
