About this position
We are looking for a detail-oriented, analytical, and proactive Debt Service & Treasury Operations Senior Associate. As a Debt Service & Treasury Operations Senior Associate, you will manage and oversee debt service activities related to bonds, swaps, and other capital market transactions, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of coupon, principal, and derivative payments. You will monitor payment forecasts, validate settlement instructions, coordinate payment confirmations with counterparties, paying agents, and custodians, investigate discrepancies, and support the execution of Straight Through Processing (STP) transactions through treasury management systems and SWIFT infrastructure.
You will work in the Cash Management and Settlements (CMS) team of the Finance Department, under the Vice Presidency for Finance and Administration. The CMS team is responsible for managing the settlement and cash management activities associated with the Bank’s funding, investment, and derivative operations, ensuring the accurate processing of debt service obligations, maintaining effective controls over payment execution, and supporting the operational integrity of treasury transactions across global financial markets.
What you’ll do
• Monitor and manage debt service obligations, including bond coupons, principal repayments, discount notes, swaps, and swaptions.
• Review and validate debt service forecasts, payment schedules, and settlement requirements.
• Execute and monitor Straight Through Processing (STP) transactions through treasury management systems.
• Prepare, verify, and release payment instructions through SWIFT and other settlement networks.
• Coordinate with counterparties, paying agents, custodians, and correspondent banks to confirm payment amounts and settlement instructions.
• Perform cash flow reconciliations and investigate settlement breaks, payment discrepancies, and operational issues.
• Manage confirmations and settlements for SOFR-linked and other floating-rate debt and derivative transactions.
• Maintain operational controls, supporting documentation, and audit trails to ensure compliance with internal procedures and risk management standards.
• Monitor and manage debt service obligations, including bond coupons, principal repayments, discount notes, swaps, and swaptions.

• Support funding and liquidity management activities related to the Bank’s capital markets and treasury operations.
• Identify opportunities to enhance operational efficiency, strengthen controls, and increase automation across debt service and settlement processes.
What you'll need
- Education: Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, Mathematics, Engineering, or other fields relevant to treasury operations and capital markets.
- Experience: At least 3 years of progressive experience in treasury operations, debt service, capital markets, financial settlements, cash management, banking operations, or related financial functions.
- Languages: Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is preferable
Requirements
- Citizenship: You are either a citizen of Colombia or a citizen of one of our 48-member countries with residency or a legal permit to work in Colombia.
- Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
Type of contract and duration
- Staff: National staff contract, 36 months initially, renewable upon mutual agreement.
