What you’ll do

• Lead programs and initiatives related to private sector participation in activities connected to productivity, trade, and innovation, such as IDB for the Americas and ConnectAmericas.
• Promote, facilitate and monitor synergies with IDB Invest and IDB Lab and with all functional areas of VPS.
• Support the organization of the Bank's high-level summits and lead the preparation of business forums in the areas of productivity, trade, and innovation.
• Coordinate the Bank's technical and operational work on major regional integration trade initiatives (Pacific Alliance, MERCOSUR, Andean Community of Nations, SIECA, CARICOM, among others), while maintaining high-level dialogue to identify operational opportunities and foster the productivity, trade, and innovation agenda such as: interoperability of trade single windows; regional trade facilitation strategies; regulatory adaptation and harmonization; regional digital markets; adoption of regional and international standards; and implementation of new trade and investment agreements , amongst others.
• Coordinate regional mechanisms for dialogue with the private sector in the areas of productivity, trade, and innovation, including the Americas Business Dialogue.
• Develop a research agenda on issues of commercial integration and Public-Private synergies in coordination with the Sectoral Economic Advisor.

About this position

As PST Unit Chief, you will lead a team of highly diverse, motivated and talented professionals responsible to promote programs and initiatives aimed at enhancing trade integration and the business environment in LAC, increase engagement with the private sector, and foster synergies and mechanisms of collaboration with IDB Invest and IDB Lab to align efforts with the functional areas of VPS. As PST Unit Chief, you will report directly to the Manager of the PTI Sector.

What you'll need

Education: Master's degree or equivalent advanced degree in Economics, Public Policy, Public Administration, International Trade, Business Administration, Development Economics, Law, Finance or other relevant fields.

Experience: At least 10 years of relevant international working experience (preferably in the Latin America and the Caribbean Region) in regional trade integration, fostering private sector engagement, and promoting Public-Private synergies in the areas of productivity, trade, and innovation; plus:

• Demonstrated ability to think strategically and develop innovative solutions to meet client’s needs.
• Strong social and communication skills with the ability to consult, partner and work effectively with senior leaders and business partners across countries, sectors, and team members.
• Proven managerial skills with track record of building high performing teams with strong client service orientation to drive alignment with key organizational areas.
• Experience handling multi-disciplinary and/or cross-sectoral teams.
• Impeccable integrity and high ethical standards.

Languages: Proficiency in English is required, and Spanish is highly desired. Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is advantageous.

• Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.

Type of contract and duration

International staff contract, 36 months initially, renewable upon mutual agreement.
