About this position

The Citizen Security Division (IFD/CIS) is looking for a detailed-oriented, proactive, and experienced professional to provide operational and administrative support to manage and coordinate external stakeholder engagement activities. The role also involves support for the coordination, execution, and implementation of the Division's day-to-day administrative and general processes, with a particular focus on stakeholder management the security and criminal justice sector.

The IFD/CIS Division mission is to help countries reduce crime and violence, promote access to justice, and foster more inclusive, secure, and resilient communities. We do this by strengthening institutions, supporting innovation in service delivery, and fostering collaboration between government and civil society. To do so, we support member countries design and implement effective, evidence-based public policies. We also produce cutting-edge research, policy notes, and analytical tools to inform decision-making and improve program effectiveness.

What you’ll do

  • Track relevant international agendas and policy trends in citizen security and criminal justice to identify opportunities for strategic engagement and positioning.
  • Help identify, prioritize, and articulate themes and initiatives to be advanced through relevant stakeholder engagement.
  • Support the design, implementation, and monitoring of work plans for collaborative initiatives between CIS and other stakeholders in the security and criminal justice sector.
  • Support the liaison between the division and key partner organizations to ensure objective alignment, joint planning of key initiatives, including the crafting of communication or the provision of technical assistance.
  • Help maintain updated stakeholder maps, contact lists, and a list of topics of interest in the citizen security and criminal justice area for all relevant cooperation initiatives.
  • Support the organization of stakeholder meetings, workshops, and consultations, including content support for workshops, seminars, and events, as well as logistical and administrative support for engagement activities.
  • Draft meeting minutes, summaries, and follow up communications with key stakeholders of the security and criminal justice sector.
  • Monitor and document feedback and participation.
  • Assist in preparing reports and updates for internal and external audiences.
  • Map and identify new potential sources and better strategies for funding the projects and initiatives in the agenda of IFD.

What you'll need

  • Education: Master’s degree (or equivalent advanced degree) in Criminology, Public Policy, International Relations, Public Administration, Law, Political Science, Development Economics, or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role.
  • Experience: At least 5 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Languages: Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is preferable.

  • Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries.
  • Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.

  • Length of contract: 12 months.
  • Work Location: On site.
