About this position
We are looking for a proactive, dynamic, collaborative, client-focused, and willing to learn project management individual to join the Project Management for Results Program (PM4R) at the Inter-American Institute for Economic and Social Development (INDES), part of the IDB Academy,
The IDB Academy serves as the capacity-building arm of the IDB within the Knowledge and Learning Division (KLD), under the Vice Presidency for Sectors and Knowledge (VPS). KLD is responsible for positioning Knowledge and Learning as a key asset of the IDB Group by enabling curation, application, and learning of knowledge across sectors and teams.
The PM4R program is responsible for strengthening project management capabilities across the region by promoting three specialized methodologies in project management: PM4R Professional, PM4R Agile, and PM4R Leadership. For more details, visit www.Pm4r.org.
PM4R aims to enhance operational effectiveness by applying the PM4R Program's methodologies through planning workshops during the project life cycle.
We collaborate closely with country offices and sector teams to integrate the best international practices in project management during the execution stage of our operations, promoting better performance and effectiveness.
What you’ll do
As a PM4R consultant, you will contribute to the identification and execution of PM4R Program workshops, ensure the continuous updating of the PM4R Professional and PM4R Agile content, and suggest new workshop formats aligned to PM4R standards to enhance project performance.
The main activities of this consultancy will be the following, but not limited to:
- Analyze the IDB portfolio to identify potential projects that could need a planning workshop using PM4R standards.
- Promote and sustain strong partnerships with sectors and country offices to effectively deliver workshops, ensuring they align with the IDB Impact+ strategy.
- Oversee the delivery of PM4R workshops by identifying key needs and challenges, aligning stakeholder expectations, developing a comprehensive agenda, selecting a qualified facilitator, and managing all logistical arrangements.
- Explore innovative ways to address project execution challenges by leveraging capacity-building solutions.
- Support the design and implementation of customized learning materials based on PM4R methodologies that address the operational needs of teams across the Bank’s country offices, fostering continuous professional development.
- Keep the PM4R methodologies updated with the latest best practices of the international standards adapted to the development project execution.
- Support the coordination of regional PM4R events, proposing improvements to the content to enhance participants' learning experience.
- Update the PM4R product pipeline, manage program performance indicators, and identify new data sets to generate knowledge for improving the quality of PM4R products.
What you'll need
-Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business Administration, Public Administration, Economics, or other fields related to the role.
-Experience: At least 2 years of experience managing development projects within a multilateral institution, non-profit, or government agency organization is required for this consultancy. The candidate must hold a certification from the PM4R program (PM4R Professional, PM4R Agile, PM4R Leadership, or PM4R Expert) or possess any other internationally recognized project management certification, such as PMP or PRINCE2, among others.
-Languages: Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is preferable.

Work Location: If international, Headquarters (Washington, D.C), whereas if national 100% remotely from place of residence of selected candidate and services are expected to be provided from a country where the IDB Group has offices.
