About this position

We are looking for an experienced, proactive, detail-oriented candidate with extensive knowledge of workplace strategy, real estate analysis, and data and information quality control, with a strong aptitude for client service. The focus of this position is to preserve and enhance the institution’s corporate real estate in country offices, while also performing cross-cutting functions to support the entire real estate portfolio.

You will work in the Corporate Real Estate Group (ACR), which is part of the Administrative Services Division (ACP) in the Budget and Administration Department (BDA). This team is responsible for managing the IDB Group’s corporate facilities, comprised of three office buildings in downtown Washington, D.C., a records center facility in Ashburn, Virginia, U.S., 26 country offices in Latin America and the Caribbean, 2 offices in Europe, and 1 in Asia, totaling 1.8 million square feet.

This position reports to the Head of ACR and works closely with ACR team members and the extended ACP team, including project managers, as well as internal clients and internal/external business partners.

What you’ll do

As a Corporate Real Estate Senior Associate, you will facilitate the implementation of workplace strategies, perform real estate analyses, consolidate and communicate standards and procedures for the real estate portfolio, ensure data and information quality control, and provide information to internal clients and leadership.

Workplace Strategy, Real Estate Analyses and Change Management:

  •  Assist in the execution of the medium-term capital budget plan aligned with organizational goals and IDB’s Corporate Real Estate Approach.
  • Contribute to comprehensive real estate analyses, including evaluating potential properties, lease terms, and market trends.
  • Assist in capital budget planning and input for real estate and property/facilities project needs.
  • Develop comprehensive reports and presentations focusing on real estate evaluations and workplace strategy. Serve as the primary resource for quality control in reporting and other deliverables, ensuring they align with organizational strategies, policies, procedures, and building standards. Additionally, provide support and coordinate efforts among team members.
  • Assist in reviewing and advising on bidding documentation for real estate projects while supporting project managers as needed.
  • Provide support in communications and change management for internal clients.

What you'll need

Education: Master's degree (or equivalent advanced degree) in Real Estate, Project Management, Architecture, Engineering or related fields.

Experience: At least 4 years of progressive experience in workplace strategy, real estate analyses, and documentation management. Additionally, relevant, practical experience in facilities operations with a preferred focus on Latin America and the Caribbean.

Language: Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is preferable. 

Other:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and AutoCAD.
  • Familiarity with project management tools and software.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of financial control, monitoring, analysis and budgeting is desirable
  • Knowledge of systems such as SAP, Nuvolo, ServiceNow, and Power BI is a plus.
  • Experience with environmental and wellness certifications is desirable (LEED, WELL, EDGE, etc.).

Type of contract and duration

•    Staff: International staff contract, 36 months initially, renewable upon mutual agreement.
