About this position
The Budget and Administrative Services Department (BDA) is seeking a strategic, highly motivated, and client-oriented professional to lead our Corporate Procurement Group within the Budget and Corporate Procurement Division (BDA/BGT). Reporting directly to the Division Chief, the Group Head manages a team of Corporate Procurement experts in conducting the procurement and contracting processes for a wide range of goods and services; oversees the decentralized procurement work related to the hiring of consulting firms for Bank-executed operations; and manages the IDB Group’s insurable risk program.
The Corporate Procurement Group provides procurement services to all Bank Departments, both in Headquarters and Country Offices, including RFP development, evaluation, contract drafting/development, negotiation, and procurement analytics.
What you’ll do
- Apply technical and professional knowledge, skills, expertise, and criteria in corporate procurement in response to business demands. Stay current on best practices for corporate procurement in the industry and other International Financial Institutions.
- Cultivate strong and mutually beneficial internal partnerships by prioritizing collaboration, focusing on clients, and deepening understanding of corporate procurement needs.
- Provide expert guidance on sourcing strategies, contract negotiation, supplier management, and process optimization to maximize value for the Bank. Develop and oversee service-level agreements for services provided to IDB Group member organizations.
- Promote the effective, efficient, and economical use of resources, and the evaluation of relevant costs and benefits along with assessment of risks and non-price attributes as appropriate.
- Develop, implement, and maintain strong business analytics platforms to support decision-making and operational efficiency while promoting transparency and accessibility to Corporate Procurement information.
- Prepare documents and deliver presentations to Senior Management, the Corporate Procurement Committee, and the Board of Executive Directors on relevant corporate procurement topics. Coordinate the preparation, approval, and implementation of policies and procedures related to all aspects of the corporate procurement services, including third-party risk management.
- Lead and mentor a highly skilled multi-cultural team of Corporate Procurement experts; establish goals and expectations, handle performance, provide feedback, and plan recruitment to optimize staff performance; and promote information sharing within the Group, contributing to coherence, consistency, and collaboration between employees.
What you'll need
• Education: Master’s (or equivalent) degree in Business Administration, Procurement, Finance, Law, Project Management, or other relevant fields. C.P.M. and/or C.P.S.M is desired.
• Experience: At least 7 years of relevant practical experience, preferrably 10 years of experience, in the field of procurement, strategic sourcing, contract management, or related areas. Candidates should demonstrate experience in end-to-end procurement processes and in developing supplier relationship programs, as well as knowledge of decision support tools and analytics and the ability to create and negotiate legally binding commercial contracts. Knowledge of SAP and/or Ariba is a plus.
• Languages: Proficient in English and Spanish (oral and written). Working knowledge of French and Portuguese is useful.

Type of contract and duration
- International: International staff contract, 36 months initially, renewable upon mutual agreement.
