About this position

We are seeking for a seasoned, data-driven, and enthusiastic professional with deep analytical experience who can derive maximum value and most useful insights from the data available across the organization’s systems. As the Senior Specialist, you will lead the Finance Department’s (FIN) Data analytics team to ensure sound data governance, oversee data stewards across FIN, and produce state-of-the-art data analytics and dashboards for our clients.

You will work in the Business Performance Group (BPG) within FIN. FIN is responsible for the mobilization and administration of the Bank’s financial resources, both the assets and liabilities of the organization, including debt and non-debt funds, the management of the Bank’s liquidity, the accounting and financial records of its operations, and the administration of its relations with financial markets and intermediaries. BPG oversees FIN’s strategy formulation, culture, and communications, as well as department-wide business performance functions, including FIN’s budget, human capital, shared services center, and quality assurance in collaboration with the CFO and General Manager.

What you'll do

  • Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of FIN’s Data Governance, Data Management, data-driven decision systems, and analytical initiatives.
  • Lead and implement Business Intelligence and Business Analytics initiatives while fostering engagement within FIN.
  • Develop and implement new and innovative approaches for analyzing data. Stay up to date on trends, threats, and opportunities in data and information.
  • Propose, coordinate, implement, and monitor goals and tasks for the data and reporting work program.
  • Develop programmatic implementation plans and design, coordinate, and oversee the development of reports and visualizations. Define relevant processes, measures, and timeframes, ensuring adequate quality controls are in place.
  • Collaborate with the team of data stewards, providing guidance, coaching, and professional development while ensuring clarity in data accountability and responsibilities.
  • Serve as the technical point of contact by understanding business needs, scoping data requests, synthesizing insights, and recommending solutions to key stakeholders in collaboration with other FIN members.
  • Participate in financial product and debt management solutions dissemination efforts by developing marketing materials and/or updating FIN’s finance portal.
  • Represent FIN in discussions with Senior Management and others stakeholders.
  • Consult with IDBG’s data management and data governance initiatives and participate in its business intelligence and business analytics initiatives.
  • Shape the work plan for staff and consultants and guide its implementation.

What you'll need

•    Education: Master’s (or Bachelor’s degree or equivalent advanced degree plus the relevant professional certifications in the field) in Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Sciences, or another field relevant to the responsibilities of the role. Specializations or certifications in a quantitative or technological discipline are preferred.

•    Experience: At least five (5) years of progressive experience in data analysis, financial reporting, data governance, IT project management. Proficiency in data analysis tools and software (e.g., SQL, Excel, Python, R, Tableau, Power BI)

•    Languages: Proficiency in English, preferably with a working knowledge of Spanish, one of the Bank’s additional official languages.

Key Skills

The nature of this role demands technical expertise and strong business analytical skills to ensure opportunities are seized to optimize efficiency, effectiveness (including the elimination of redundant tasks), and communication..  The ideal candidate should have:

  • Technical:
    • Experience in creating, deploying, and maintaining dashboards in PowerBI (experience with Power Platform is a plus), applying visual best practices.
    • Ability to write and document clean code using SQL, Python, R, or other relevant languages.
    • Knowledge and experience in extracting and validating data, as well as maintaining data pipelines.
  • Communication and Influence:
    • Result-driven, collaborative, innovative, client-oriented, a strong communicator, proactive, eager to learn, and excellent time management.
    • Ability to focus on clients’ needs, build relationships, and remain open to innovation and trying new approaches.
  • Analytical:
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Sound business judgment, with the ability to think strategically and provide practical advice by balancing business needs with risks.
  • Financial:
    • Experience working with financial data is a plus.
    • Knowledge of finance and risk management (e.g., fixed income, derivatives, basic accounting principles) is a plus.

Type of contract and duration

•    Staff: International: International staff contract, 36 months initially, renewable upon mutual agreement.
