About this position

We are looking for dedicated, resourceful and innovative Junior Data Privacy Consultant to join our team. As Junior Data Privacy Consultant, you will support the Privacy Team day-to-day activities, contribute to ongoing initiatives, and build foundational capabilities in data privacy and data governance.

You will work in The Privacy Team, under the Strategic Corporate and Operational Data Unit (SCO), of the Office of Strategic Planning and Development Effectiveness (SPD). SCO, leads the implementation of the IDB Group’s personal data privacy framework by advising business units, ensuring compliance, managing privacy safeguards, and promoting responsible handling of personal data across the institution.

What you’ll do

• Support the intake, tracking and response to routine privacy related inquiries from business units and escalate matters as needed.
• Maintain and update records of processing activities to ensure business processes handling personal data are properly documented and aligned with internal requirements.
• Draft, update and help maintain privacy procedures, guidelines, templates, FAQs, and reference materials to support consist understanding of privacy requirements. 
• Support the review of privacy assessments by checking for completeness, consistency and alignment with established requirements, under the guidance of the Privacy Team.
• Support change management in privacy initiatives by developing, maintaining and delivering practical training, awareness, and outreach materials that promote privacy awareness and privacy by design across the institution.
• Assist in measuring the effectiveness of privacy change management and training initiatives through defined metrics and feedback mechanisms.
• Provide support to the Privacy Team in monitoring the implementation of privacy recommendations across the IDB.

What you'll need

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public policy or public administration, information systems, audit or risk management, communications, marketing or public relations, or a related field. 
  • Experience: At least two years of relevant experience, including internships, academic projects, or research roles, supporting compliance, risk management, governance, or internal control activities. Experience reviewing documentation for completeness and consistency against defined requirements or guidelines is required. Demonstrated interest in data, technology, or risk‑related topics is an asset; prior experience in data privacy is not required..
  • Languages: Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is preferable 

Requirements

• Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries. We may offer assistance with relocation and visa applications for you and your eligible dependents).

• Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.

Type of contract and duration

International consultant Full-Time, 12 months (up to 48 months, subject to eligibility).
