About this position
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated professional with a background in financial planning & analysis, corporate finance, and/or risk management for the role of Senior Specialist.
You will join our Financial Policy, Planning, and Decision Support (FPD) Group, part of IDB Finance (FIN) department. FIN is responsible for the mobilization and administration of the Bank's financial resources, including the assets and liabilities of the organization, the management of the Bank's liquidity, the accounting and financial records of its operations, and the administration of its relations with financial markets, credit rating agencies and intermediaries.
Within FIN, FPD leads the Bank’s financial planning process, designs and implements Bank-wide financial policies, and advises Senior Management and the Board of Executive Directors on the financial implications of major or innovative programs, ensuring the optimal use of the Bank’s capital.
As a Senior/Lead Specialist, you will play a key role in delivering all FPD responsibilities.
What you’ll do
- Actively contribute to the design, calibration, validation, and application of the Bank’s core financial planning tools and models.
- Play a key role representing FIN and FPD in working groups engaged in designing new financial instruments and modifying financial and risk management policies. You may also be asked to lead or play a key role in interdisciplinary groups to ensure periodic review and updating of the Bank’s financial policies.
- Draft presentations to Senior Management, Management Committees, and the Board of Executive Directors on matters related to financial planning, financial decision support, and financial policies. Clearly explain complex ideas in an accessible manner.
- Oversee and actively participate in due diligence meetings and interactions with credit rating agencies, peer institutions, and other market participants. Regularly engage with third parties to stay informed on the latest tools, rating criteria, and market regulations.
What you'll need
• Education: Master’s degree (or equivalent advanced degree), including relevant professional certifications such as CFA, CQF, FRM, in Finance, Business Administration, Economics/Econometrics, Mathematics/Statistics, or a related field relevant to the role’s responsibilities.
• Experience: At least 8 years of progressive experience in financial planning, financial modeling, corporate finance, and/or financial risk management. Prior experience in financial planning and policy within multilateral lending institutions is a plus.
• Languages: Proficiency in English is required. Knowledge of another Bank official language (Spanish, French, or Portuguese) is a plus.
Key Skills

Strong quantitative skills, with a numerical fluency and the ability to discuss quantitative topics effectively.

Expert/Advanced proficiency in Excel, MATLAB, and Python is required. Experience with other languages with transferrable skills may be considered.

Advanced knowledge of SQL, PowerBI, and integration of financial models and dashboards within a corporate database environment is highly desired.
Requirements

Type of contract and duration
• International staff contract, 36 months initially, renewable upon mutual agreement.
