About this position

We are seeking a visionary and dynamic leader to shape and drive the IDB Group’s talent solutions strategy. Under the direct supervision of the Talent Management Division Chief, you will lead the design and execution of initiatives that address both current and future workforce needs. Your portfolio will include, among others, strategic talent planning, talent conversations, mobility frameworks, and succession planning—ensuring the IDB Group is equipped with the right talent to deliver on its mission.

You will work in the Talent Management Division, part of the Human Resources Department (HRD). The Human Resources Department is responsible for the administration and development of the human capital of the IDB Group. The main functions of the department include managing the entire employee lifecycle, overseeing the implementation of the People Strategy, and implementing programs and methodologies in direct support of the IDB’s mission. HRD is also dedicated to deliver human centered experiences and strategically partnering with professionals who are passionate about improving lives in Latin America and the Caribbean. What you’ll do

Manage the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of high-impact, cross-organizational talent management practices. Apply a deep understanding of the IDB Group’s current and future talent needs to ensure alignment with institutional priorities and workforce planning.

Collaborate closely with HR Business Partners across the IDB Group to develop methodologies that identify client needs and translate business objectives into innovative, client-focused HR solutions. Ensure these solutions are responsive, scalable, and aligned with organizational strategy.

Develop and operationalize mechanisms that embed talent management practices across the organization. Build and maintain a strong pipeline of talent prepared to assume key roles across the region, supporting leadership continuity and institutional effectiveness.

Design and implement integrated processes, systems, and policies that institutionalize talent management practices. Ensure these frameworks are data-informed, agile, and aligned with the IDB Group’s strategic goals and operational realities.

Lead the development and execution of the IDB Group’s mobility framework to promote cross-functional and cross-regional career growth. Foster a culture of internal mobility that enhances organizational agility and supports employee development.

Develop and manage a comprehensive portfolio of Talent Solutions—including Talent Planning, Talent Conversations, Mobility, and Succession Planning—that elevate talent practices and drive strategic workforce outcomes across the organization.

Lead the Talent Solutions team to generate actionable TLM programs and initiatives to support HRD and organizational leaders in making informed decisions that enhance talent management practices and workforce planning.

Advise and present insights garnered through analysis, data provided by WFI team, and market-based research in a way that supports the leadership of the IDB and HRD in their decision-making processes for effective talent management.

What you'll need

  • Master's degree or equivalent advanced degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of relevant and progressive professional experience in talent solutions, including proven track record in designing and implementing staff mobility programs, talent identification and development, succession planning, among other talent solutions approaches for multinational environments, and leading major transformation in her/his team/area.
  • Strong technical background, including extensive knowledge of leading-edge HRD programs, systems, and practices; with a focus on talent management.
  • An ability to bring innovative and workable concepts and ideas to meet client’s needs, translating them into policies, processes, and systems.
  • Strong business acumen and clear understanding of market trends, competition, and culture.
  • Ability to understand business goals and recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to drive Talent management continuously improving.
  • Ability to have a “big picture” perspective but also a “hands on” approach in the design, implementation, and management of complex processes from a strategic and operational perspective.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to quickly establish and maintain trust and credibility with all stakeholders. Sound judgement and emotional intelligence.
  • People management, including the ability to organize and delegate work, motivate, coach, and develop staff.
  • Collaborative team player who can inspire trust and passion in the IDB Group’s mission, establish productive relationships, and treat all individuals with fairness and respect.
  • Languages: Proficiency in English, spoken and written, is required. Proficiency in another Bank language (Spanish, Portuguese or French) is highly desired.

  • Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab. 

Type of contract and duration

International staff contract, 36 months initially, renewable upon mutual agreement
