About this position

IDB Invest (IDBI), a member of the IDB Group, is a multilateral organization based in Washington, D.C., that is committed to the development of Latin America and the Caribbean through the private sector. 

 

The Finance and Administration Department (FNA) at IDB Invest covers the following divisions: Controllership; Analytics and Information Technology; Operations; and Treasury. The Accounting team within the Controllership Division is responsible for Accounting Policy, Corporate Accounting, Financial Instruments Accounting, and Financial Reporting.

 

The Accounting team is looking for an experienced professional with the right blend of technical, analytical and collaborative skills to join the financial reporting function. This is an exciting opportunity to apply accounting and finance knowledge within a growing international financial institution and be a part of a dynamic and multicultural environment.

What you’ll do

•    Prepare reports and supporting schedules for IDB Invest’s management discussion and analysis and financial statements and footnote disclosures in accordance with US GAAP/other applicable guidance and internal reporting requirements.


•    Support financial reporting for IDB Invest’s Donor Fund’s under Administration.


•    Perform data and ratio analysis on financial statement results, assist in the preparation of presentations for senior level decision makers and other financial reports for IDB Invest’s investors.


•    Prepare supporting schedules and coordinate financial information for IDB Invest’s debt offerings.


•    Review journal entries for completeness and accuracy. Prepare and/or review consolidation adjustment entries, reclassifications, and supporting documentation for group level reporting. 


•    Participate in sustainability and climate-related reporting assessments for implementation of new and existing reporting disclosures. 


•    Prepare and support review of internal controls over financial reporting and operational risk activities.


•    Lead and execute the design, development and documentation of new processes, reports and automation efforts.


•    Serve as liaison for external and internal audit matters. Respond to internal and external requests in a professional manner and provide support in ad hoc accounting and financial reporting tasks.


•    Collaborate with colleagues across IDB Invest and the IDB Group to improve accounting and financial reporting information. 

What you'll need

•    Education: Master’s degree (or equivalent advanced degree) in accounting, business administration, finance, systems information, or a related field required.

•    Experience: At least 4 years of relevant professional experience working in the accounting and finance field. Applied working knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP) and accounting procedures. Big four accounting experience preferred. 

•    Languages: proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is preferable.

•    Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
 

Type of contract and duration

•  International staff contract, 36 months initially, renewable upon mutual agreement.
