About this position
We are looking for a highly motivated professional with a strong track record in developing advisory services on climate change and the environment. As a climate and environment officer, you will strive to incorporate climate and environment opportunities, maximize development impact, and create long-term value for our clients and our organization.
You will work in the Climate and Environment Division, part of Industries and Cross-Cutting Themes (ICT) department. This team is responsible for offering environmental technical expertise to the market, our clients and the organization as a whole.
What you’ll do
- Design, develop and execute of IDB Invest advisory service for the market, the clients or the organization.
- Provide intellectual leadership in tendencies and innovation within priority areas such as resiliency analysis, nature-based solutions, and environment finance.
- Provide suggestions to improve project design by increasing resilience to impacts of climate change and other natural disasters.
- Support the development of tools, knowledge products and outreach activities, such as conferences and others, that help adopt and incorporate environmental and climate action.
- Lead and/or support drafting and submission of fundraising proposals for green and climate technical assistance, either to donors or for the access of own capital resources.
- Oversee preparation of lessons learned within and outside the IDBG, including technical input for the design of project level communication products.
- Disseminate information to project teams on transaction strengths, weaknesses, risks and risk mitigation options.
What you'll need
-Education: Master’s degree (or equivalent advanced degree) in business, environmental or biological sciences, international development, natural resources economics, economics, environmental engineering, natural resources management, or related fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role.
-Experience: At least 5 years of progressive experience in private finance, low carbon and resilient technologies, with experience working with private sector actors and development organizations. Understanding Latin America and the Caribbean shall be highly valued.
-Languages: Proficiency in English and one of the other Bank official languages (Spanish, French or Portuguese) is required.

Type of contract and duration
International staff contract, 36 months initially, renewable upon mutual agreement.
