We improve lives
IDB Invest is the private sector arm of the IDB Group committed to supporting the sustainable development of Latin America and the Caribbean through the private sector. Our mission is to finance, structure, and mobilize capital for companies and projects that support economic growth, resilience, and long-term development across the region.
IDB Invest operates in 26 countries, structured across four geographic regions and three industry verticals: Infrastructure and Energy, Financial Institutions, and Corporates.
As part of its evolving business model, “Originate to Share,” IDB Invest is expanding its capacity to mobilize private capital and scale development impact across Latin America and the Caribbean, supported by a $3.5 billion capitalization from its shareholders. The model strengthens IDB Invest’s ability to originate high-quality assets, structure innovative financial solutions, and connect global capital with opportunities across the region.
About this position
We seek a dynamic and experienced leader to join as Director of Distribution & Investor Relations. The candidate should be an experienced banker with deep expertise in the distribution of debt products—including syndicated loans, B Loans, B Bonds, and other credit instruments—and a demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with large international commercial and investment banks, asset managers, insurance companies, pension funds, development finance institutions, and other institutional investors.
The Director of Distribution & Investor Relations is a senior leader responsible for driving the distribution of IDB Invest’s assets to third-party investors and for strengthening the institution’s investor coverage and relationship management capabilities within the Mobilization and Asset Sharing Division. To align with the Originate to Share business model, this role leads the Distribution & Investor Relations pillar, serving as the primary window to the investor community and ensuring that distribution strategies are executed with market discipline and investor focus.
The Director will manage a team organized along investor classes and products, with dedicated investor coverage responsibilities. You will play a critical role in scaling up mobilization volumes, deepening investor engagement, and ensuring that IDB Invest is positioned as a partner of choice for private capital deployment in Latin America and the Caribbean.
What you’ll do
- Support the Managing Director in the development and implementation of the distribution and investor relations strategy, aligning initiatives with IDB Invest’s Originate to Share business model and mobilization targets.
- Lead the execution of primary distribution across IDB Invest’s full suite of mobilization products, including A/B Loan Participations, B Bonds (Private Placement and 144A), Co-Financings, Unfunded Credit Protection, Unfunded Risk Participations, Managed Accounts, and Significant Risk Transfers.
- Develop and oversee a structured investor coverage model segmented by investor class—commercial banks, investment banks, asset managers, insurance companies, pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, DFIs, and impact investors—ensuring dedicated coverage responsibilities and consistent engagement across geographies.
- Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with key decision-makers at large international commercial and investment banks, asset managers, and other institutional investors to expand IDB Invest’s investor base and scale up mobilization volumes.
- Lead secondary distribution efforts, including A Loan Participations, A Loan Assignments, and portfolio-level transactions, working closely with origination and portfolio management teams to identify distribution opportunities that optimize balance sheet utilization.
- Conduct investor roadshows, one-on-one meetings, and targeted outreach programs to deepen market understanding of IDB Invest’s value proposition, Preferred Creditor Status, and product offerings.
- Provide market intelligence, pricing guidance, and investor feedback to origination and structuring teams to ensure transactions are structured with distribution in mind and aligned with investor appetite.
- Oversee the preparation of investor-facing materials, including teasers, information memoranda, investor presentations, and deal marketing documentation to support effective distribution execution.
- Support the Managing Director in representing IDB Invest at major industry conferences, investor forums, and bilateral engagements with institutional investors and financial intermediaries.
- Strengthen operational processes and systems for investor relationship management, including the implementation of CRM tools, investor tracking, and pipeline reporting to enhance distribution efficiency and transparency.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing Distribution & Investor Relations team, setting clear objectives, fostering a culture of accountability and market responsiveness, and ensuring effective workload management.
- Promote knowledge sharing by disseminating market best practices, representing the division in internal and external forums, and contributing to the development of new distribution products and investor engagement strategies.
