About this position

We are looking for a strategic, analytical, and inspirational Director, Financial & Transaction Services. As Director, Operational Optimization and Support Team (OST), you will lead a team of subject matter experts (SMEs), streamline and reengineer processes to enhance efficiency and automation, and oversee the execution of key initiatives such as the IT Roadmap and Capital Budget, ensuring cross-functional alignment and strategic impact.  

 

You will work in the Operational Optimization and Support Team (OST) as part of the Operations Division (OPD) in the Finance and Administration department (FNA). The Operational Optimization and Support Team (OST) leads comprehensive, end-to-end process improvements, guiding cross-functional transformation initiatives. Operational Optimization and Support Team (OST) works within the Operations Division (OPD) to streamline Finance and Administration department's (FNA) role in project review and participation, manage internal projects and ensure quality internal controls. 

What you’ll do

 

  • Manage, coach and motivate a team of subject matter experts (SMEs) promoting leadership development, excellence in client service and multi-discipline interactions.

 

  • Develop team communication standards for interacting internally within FNA and with other departments. 

 

  • Streamline end to end processes to boost efficiency, automation and growth within IDB Invest.

 

  • Responsible for identifying new processes in where changes are needed and reengineering required in order to make them more efficient across the Institution. 

 

  • Work in close collaboration with the IT Roadmap initiatives to align efforts and accompany the changes in the processes involved. 

 

  • Manage, monitor, and coordinate activities related to Program Management. 

 

  • Provide governance framework and support for the monitoring and execution of the Capital Budget (and IT Roadmap).

 

  • Decision facilitation and dependency management. Facilitating decision making and ITSC prioritization among competing priorities. 

 

  • Prepare and support all the updates for the IT Steering Committee.

 

  • Provide strategic insights to the OPD Div Chief on key initiative status, challenges and learnings.

What you'll need

 

Education: Master's degree in business administration, Finance, Economics or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role. 

 

Experience:  At least 10 years of relevant experience in acting in a similar role in the private sector, private banks, investment firms, corporate and investment banking sector, or development finance institutions focused on the private sector; having worked in different cultural settings, preferably in Latin America. 

 

  • Substantial understanding of a wide variety of financial products and services and experience in their related operational processes. 
  • Strong understanding of the regulatory environments of the countries where IDB Group operates. 
  • Strong change management experience in an evolving and complex environment to identify and inspire change to best serve the needs of the organization in the future. 
  • The ability for strategic thinking. High analytical and problem-solving skills required, with a clear ability to add value through creative thinking, in-depth, and disciplined analysis, and effective monitoring of metrics and results. 
  • Strong client services orientation, collaborative approach, fostering and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders. 
  • The capacity to plan and manage human resources and operations to achieve quality results in a productive and financially sustainable manner. 
  • Lean Six Sigma certification, Certified Expert in Business Process Management and/or any other similar certifications are a plus. 

 

Languages: Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is preferable.

•    Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.

Type of contract and duration

International staff contract, 36 months initially, renewable upon mutual agreement.
