We improve lives

IDB Invest is the private sector arm of the IDB Group and an international financial institution committed to addressing the development needs of Latin America and the Caribbean. Our mission is to support sustainable enterprises and projects that deliver financial results while maximizing social and environmental impact in the region.

IDB Invest operates in 26 countries, structured across four geographic regions and three industry verticals: Infrastructure and Energy, Financial Intermediaries, and Corporates.

In support of a new transformative business model “Originate to Share” our shareholders recently approved a $3.5 billion capitalization. This will allow IDB Invest to significantly scale up its investments, to approximately $19 billion, and unlocking greater private sector participation to drive development and climate impact across the region.

About this position

We manage and execute key operational activities related to IDB Invest’s project portfolio, ensuring the seamless processing of financial transactions within the loan management system. This includes supporting disbursements, billing schedules, collections of interest, principal and associated fees, and other portfolio-servicing events across loans, guarantees, debt securities, equity investments, funds, and other financial products.

The team also supports the integrity of financial data, accurate operational reporting, and controls aligned with IDB Invest’s governance. We continuously optimize workflows and systems to enhance operational efficiency, service quality and the scalability of the operating model.

We are seeking a proactive, organized and detail-oriented Sr. Associate to serve as Segment Coordinator for a defined portfolio segment. The ideal candidate combines strong transaction execution skills with analytical capacity, resource coordination, process discipline, and the ability to support systems and implementation activities.

What you’ll do

The Sr. Associate/Segment Coordinator role will coordinate day-to-day execution for an assigned segment, ensuring timely delivery, quality control, and consistent application of operational procedures. Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate resources and day-to-day operational activities for the assigned segment, focusing on the administration and servicing of loans, equity investments, debt securities, guarantees, and other financial products, following defined procedures, priorities, and controls.

  • Conduct data gathering, operational analysis, and reporting activities related to routine to moderately complex transactions, portfolio activities, operational projects, agreements, and process improvement initiatives.

  • Support project origination and portfolio servicing by reviewing and registering relevant terms and conditions of financial products in the loan management system.

  • Review and validate more complex or sensitive transactions and operational outputs prepared by analysts or contractors, ensuring consistency with approved documentation, internal procedures, controls, and system requirements.

  • Set up, enhance, document, test, and support implementation of systems, workflows, controls, reports, and operational processes required to support portfolio administration, transaction execution, and strategic initiatives.

  • Act as a technical reference point for the assigned segment by documenting recurring issues, reinforcing standard operating procedures, supporting training, and sharing knowledge with analysts and contractor resources.

  • Collaborate with peer functions and cross-functional teams on operational readiness for new products or processes, issue resolution, data quality, continuous improvement, and implementation of approved changes.

What you'll need

•    Education: You hold a master’s degree or equivalent in finance, business administration, accounting, law, economics, or another relevant field.

•    Experience: You have at least 3 years of relevant experience in financial operations, loan administration, disbursements, billing, collections, portfolio servicing, back-office controls, systems implementation, operational analysis, or related functions in a financial institution or international organization.

•    Languages: Oral and written fluency in English and Spanish is required.

•   Technical knowledge: You have solid understanding of financial products and operational processes related to loans, guarantees, debt securities, equity investments, investment funds, syndication, mobilization, and/or structured finance. You are comfortable gathering and analyzing data, reviewing transaction documentation, translating terms into operational/system requirements, monitoring transaction, and identifying risks or exceptions that require escalation.

•   Systems: Proficiency in loan management systems is desirable. Experience with Microsoft Office / Microsoft 365 tools, workflow or ticketing platforms, reporting tools, data quality processes, process documentation, testing, automation initiatives, or system implementation support is a plus.
