About this position

The IT Lead Officer will lead the daily IT business operations that support Front, Middle, and Back-office capabilities of IDB Invest. The IT Lead Officer will manage a diverse team using agile practices to ensure the bank's technology infrastructure is robust, asset-light, scalable, and aligned with business goals.

 

The role also requires a strong technical background in native cloud architecture, integrations, and the Microsoft Azure and/or Salesforce ecosystems as well as leading the relationship between business and IT stakeholders, ensuring that decisions are aligned with client needs and IDB Invest strategic goals.

 

The IT Lead Officer will oversee the IT Support and Maintenance team, ensuring the continuous availability, performance, and security of core systems that enable daily business operations. This includes managing incident resolution, service requests, preventive maintenance, and minor change implementations with minimal disruption to business activities. The position will be accountable for establishing and monitoring service-level agreements (SLAs), driving operational excellence, and fostering a proactive approach to identifying and addressing potential issues before they impact operations.

 

What you’ll do

  1. Strategic Leadership:

 

    • Ensure alignment of technology strategy with the bank’s business goals and regulatory requirements. 
    • Define and implement strategies for incident management, problem resolution, and service reliability by leveraging best practices while delivering tangible improvements in user satisfaction
    • Design and implement IT support models to ensure applications' stability and efficiency, leveraging strategic third-party partnerships and enabling seamless transition of  initiatives to operations.

 

  1. Team Management:

 

    • Lead a diverse team of IT professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and service reliability. 
    • Implement agile practices to enhance efficiency and productivity from an end-to-end perspective and ensuring alignment with user needs
    • Mentor and develop technical staff, ensuring the team has the necessary skills and knowledge to meet the bank’s needs, fostering technical excellence, agile practices, and a customer-centric mindset.

 

  1. Operational Excellence:

 

    • Ensure efficient and effective operation of Front, Middle, and Back-office systems. 
    • Implement robust monitoring, alerting, and incident management processes to maintain system uptime and performance, enabling proactive actions that mitigate potential failures or impacts in the business continuity with strong SLAs and KPIs.
    • Oversee the management of IT assets, including software, devices, and licenses. 

 

  1. Technical Oversight:

 

    • Ensure rich API integration of various banking systems and platforms. 
    • Ensure the security, scalability, continuous improvements, and reliability of all technical operations. 

 

  1. Stakeholder Engagement

 

    • Collaborate with IT management and business units to understand and address their diverse needs, ensuring alignment with customer-centric decision-making. 
    • Act as a liaison between the technology department and other areas (including external), ensuring clear and transparent communication, while managing expectations regarding technical capabilities and limitations. 

 

  1. Risk Management: 
    • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, operational and data protection standards, and best practices, fostering a “policy as a code” culture
    • Maintain documentation and operational runbooks for critical systems and processes enabling automated solutions using cloud native services.

What you'll need

 

Education: Master’s degree (or equivalent advanced degree) in Computer Sciences, Information Technology, or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role. 

 

Experience: 

  • Minimum of 6+ years of experience in IT management and complex implementations. 
  • Proven track record of managing Front, Middle, and Back-office operations in a banking or financial services environment. 
  • Extensive experience with native cloud architecture (SaaS/PaaS business model solutions), particularly on Microsoft Azure and Salesforce ecosystems, as well as tailor-made applications. 
  • Experience in systems integration and enterprise architecture. Knowledge in API Management & DevOps is a plus, along with experience implementing agile practices 
  • Proven track record in designing, implementing, and managing IT support and governance frameworks, leveraging industry best practices such as ITIL and COBIT.
  • Experience in establishing processes, policies, and performance metrics that ensure operational excellence, compliance, and continuous service improvement is preferred.

  • In-depth knowledge of banking operations and regulatory requirements.

  • Proficient in agile methodologies and practices. 
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills. 
  • Ability to drive innovation and manage change effectively. 

 

Languages: Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is preferable.

Requirements

Citizenship: No requirements

Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.

Type of contract and duration

International staff contract, 36 months initially, renewable upon mutual agreement.
