About this position
IDB Invest is seeking an experienced finance professional with a track record in local currency risk management. In this role, you will be responsible for pricing and executing local currency and interest rate derivatives, credit lines, and bond transactions (denominated in various currencies) in accordance with policy and guidelines, contributing to our commitment to scale operations in alignment with IDB Invest’s Impact+ mandate.
You will be part of the Treasury Division within the Finance and Administration Department and report to the Head of Local Funding Solutions. The Treasury Division is responsible for the execution of IDB Invest’s borrowing, hedging, trading, and cash management activities, as well as the ALM of IDB Invest’s overall balance sheet. Treasury is composed of four different units: Funding, Investments, Local Funding Solutions, and ALM.
What you’ll do
- Recommend optimal funding structures based on local markets conditions and available financial products.
- Coordinate with Finance, Legal, Risk, and Investment Operations teams to design innovative funding solutions.
- Analyze, price, negotiate, execute and record debt capital markets and derivatives transactions for funding development related assets.
- Monitor regional capital-markets developments; prepare assessments, reports and maintain interest-rate/FX swap toolkits.
- Evaluate counterparty credit risk and obtain necessary approvals for trading with banks and non-rated entities.
- Collaborate on the development and deployment of quantitative models and analytical tools for Treasury.
- Build and sustain strong relationships with internal teams, banks, counterparties and other external partners.
- Serve as subject-matter expert in testing and implementing Treasury systems and process enhancements. Identify technology, infrastructure, and process gaps, as well as recommend actions to minimize operational risks.
- Contribute to team development, cultivating an inclusive, high‑performance culture that promotes innovation, continuous learning, and shared accountability.
What you'll need
• Education: Master’s degree (or equivalent advanced degree) in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Risk Management, Engineering, or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role, with knowledge of financial markets and products. Relevant professional certifications are a plus.
• Experience: A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in local currency risk management. Candidates should demonstrate strong technical expertise and a solid track record in structuring fixed income and/or structured products with a focus on emerging markets.
• Technical & Leadership Capabilities:

- Strong quantitative background with financial modeling expertise
- Deep theoretical and hands-on expertise in fixed-income instruments—including interest-rate and cross-currency derivatives and structured products—paired with a solid command of capital-management processes, strategies, and tools.
- Extensive experience managing market risk and structuring end-to-end Treasury solutions, underpinned by a thorough understanding of prevailing requirements.
- Proven track record as a trusted advisor: guiding clients, driving innovation, and leading cross-functional technical teams to deliver impactful results.
- Robust professional network and senior-level relationships with key market participants, leveraged to generate opportunities and shape market practices. Expert knowledge of fixed‑income markets, derivatives, FTP and hedging strategies.
- Advanced quantitative skills with the ability to translate complex analytics into clear recommendations.
- Strong project‑management discipline with proven record of delivering multi‑year roadmaps under tight timelines.
- Demonstrated talent for facilitating open, inclusive discussions across diverse audiences; cultivates a learning-oriented culture, mentors colleagues, models respectful collaboration, acknowledges contributions, and fosters a safe space for idea exchange.
- Excellent oral and written communicator, adept at translating complex concepts, methodologies, and lessons learned into clear, relevant messages for clients and stakeholders. Able to build consensus across multiple levels of stakeholders.
• Languages: Proficiency in English and one of the other Bank official languages (Spanish, French or Portuguese) is required.

Type of contract and duration
• International consultant Full-Time, 24 months (up to 48 months, if applicable).
