About this position

We are seeking a motivated a high-performing, analytical and motivated Treasury Consultant to support IDB Invest’s Treasury activities across its business areas.

 

This is a broad‑based Treasury role, with the Consultant initially assigned to the Funding team, supporting funding and capital markets transactions, market research and investor relations activities. Accordingly, prior experience in funding or debt capital markets is highly desirable.

 

Depending on business needs, the consultant may rotate across Treasury functions over time, gaining broad exposure to Treasury operations within a multilateral development bank and working closely with internal teams and external market counterparties. The consultant will work under the guidance of senior Treasury staff and collaborate closely with colleagues across finance, risk, legal, and operations.

What you’ll do

  • Monitor and analyze financial markets, macroeconomic trends, and market data relevant to Treasury operations, including capital market conditions, investor behavior, and pricing developments.

 

  • Support the preparation, analysis, and execution of treasury transactions, initially focused on funding activities, including bond issuances, loans, and derivative transactions in international and local capital markets.

 

  • Provide analytical and operational support for local currency Treasury operations, including market analysis, pricing support, and transaction documentation for local markets in Latin America and the Caribbean.

 

  • Develop and maintain financial models and reporting tools to support treasury analysis and decision‑making.

 

  • Prepare high‑quality internal reports, dashboards, and presentations for senior management and internal stakeholders on Treasury and activities and market developments, with an initial focus on funding and investor relation activities.

 

  • Assist with investor relations activities and interactions with market participants, i.a. by preparing high quality investor presentations and reports, and facilitating the preparation of events and investor meetings.

 

  • Support coordination and execution across internal functions (risk, legal, accounting, operations) and with external counterparties such as banks, underwriters, and derivatives dealers to ensure timely, well‑controlled Treasury transactions.

 

  • Contribute to projects and continuous improvements related to Treasury systems, processes, reporting, and capital markets operations.

What you'll need

•    Education:  Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent advanced degree)  in Finance, Economics, Business Administration or a related field.

•    Experience: You have at least 2 years of relevant professional experience in treasury, capital markets, investment banking, financial analysis, risk management, or a related area. Prior experience in funding or debt capital markets is highly desirable.

Functional expertise:

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to work with financial models and market data.
  • Experience in programming languages (e.g. SQL, Python) is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel and standard financial analysis tools; familiarity with market data and trading platforms (e.g., Bloomberg) is an advantage.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural, team-oriented environment, with high standards of integrity and attention to detail.

•    Languages: Proficiency in English and one of the other Bank official languages (Spanish, French or Portuguese) is required

•    Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.

Type of contract and duration

International consultant Full-Time, 36 months (up to 48 months, if applicable).
