We improve lives
The IDB Group is a community of diverse, versatile, and passionate people who come together on a journey to improve lives in Latin America and the Caribbean. Our people find purpose and do what they love in an inclusive, collaborative, agile, and rewarding environment.
About this position
The Knowledge and Learning Division (KLD) provides clients with guidance and tools to capture, generate, manage, and use knowledge, and support the planning, development, and measurement of knowledge and learning products and services. The Felipe Herrera Library Team within the Knowledge and Learning Division is responsible for curating, maintaining, and enhancing the IDB’s extensive digital and physical library collections. It also oversees the management and development of both physical and digital spaces where users can access, explore, and utilize these knowledge assets.
We are looking for a dynamic, data-minded, energetic professional to join the Knowledge and Learning Division as a Knowledge and Learning Senior Associate. This role will focus on Data Coordination and Knowledge Architecture for Knowledge Management, with a particular emphasis on shaping and implementing a practical vision for knowledge graph architecture that connects knowledge products, concept schemas, named entities, utilization evidence and more across the universe of IDB knowledge. You will be challenged to combine strategic thinking with hands-on delivery, responding to knowledge management needs with comprehensive data models, coordinating projects across technical and business teams, advising on technical processes, and getting things done in ways that improve information dissemination, access, discovery, and reuse.
Your efforts will be key enablers to ensure that relevant operational and analytical knowledge is widely available to be used, shared, and built upon. We are a team of seasoned professionals working to support the IDB’s ambitious objectives to become the premier institution for knowledge production in the Region, to incorporate external frontier knowledge into operational processes, and to leverage knowledge as a critical means to enhance our development impact.
What you’ll do
- Leverage your vision of knowledge architecture to maintain and evolve the IDB’s knowledge graph, ensuring its role as a key information architecture asset that enhances AI processes, reporting needs, and our ability to understand our knowledge product universe.
- Use your client service skills to act as responsible focal point for system and data interoperability to support knowledge management processes for the KLD division to better serve all IDB personnel.
- Apply your knowledge of data interoperability to supervise and ensure reliable data transformations and flows between data sources, the knowledge graph, and all systems related to knowledge products, knowledge management, and relative reporting.
- Assure the quality, consistency, and reliability of data used across the knowledge management ecosystem by defining validation rules, identifying and resolving data issues, documenting standards, and promoting practices that support trustworthy reporting, discovery, AI-enabled services, and reuse.
- Use your technical knowledge to advise on the use of data and technological approaches in the context of addressing knowledge management challenges.
- Leverage AI capabilities, including natural language processing, classification, extraction, and generative AI techniques, to increase efficiency and quality in knowledge management processes, identify opportunities for process improvement, and expand discovery and reuse knowledge assets.
- Coordinate with our Information Technology Department and with external vendors related to the acquisition of technologies and provision of services that support the knowledge management ecosystem and related data architecture at the IDB.
- Apply your advanced critical thinking and communication skills to analyze complex business processes, as needed and recommend simplified, quality solutions/enhancements to problems identified via troubleshooting, user feedback, and testing.
