About this position

We are looking for a dynamic, committed, and results-driven Senior Operations Associate to join the Office of the Special Advisor on Gender and Diversity (OSG). In this role, you will contribute to advancing equal opportunities and social inclusion by fostering collaboration across the three entities of the IDB (IDB, IDB Lab, and IDB Invest), supporting high-level external communications and engagement, and contributing to the corporate impact of OSG’s agenda.

You will play a key role in the implementation of IDB Cares, a new umbrella initiative positioning the care economy as a driver of inclusive growth and equal opportunities for women and vulnerable groups. You will coordinate with technical teams across the IDB Group to support the design, execution, and monitoring of IDB Cares projects, including technical cooperations, loan operations, knowledge generation, internal and external communications, and strategic partnerships.

You will bring strong analytical and operational skills to coordinate with technical units across the Bank to respond in a timely and effective manner to the needs and demands of countries and the private sector.

What you’ll do

- Coordinate across IDB, IDB Lab, and IDB Invest to design, implement, and monitor care economy projects and other OSG priorities, ensuring alignment with initiatives such as Amazonia Forever, América en el Centro, One Caribbean, and the Alliance for Security, Justice, and Development.

- Conduct policy dialogue with public and private stakeholders through events and knowledge exchange on care and gender agendas.
- Develop knowledge products and evidence-based inputs to close gaps and support IDB Cares, including: Care value chain analysis (with IDB Invest), Longevity economics (with IDB Lab), Regional care diagnostics (with IDB), Business case for care investment across the IDB Group.

- Coordinate and execute OSG’s communications strategy with technical and comms teams. Develop content and tools to support outreach on IDB Cares, gender-based violence prevention, women’s economic autonomy, and related topics. Prepare materials for global fora and high-level events.

- Promote internal awareness of the care agenda through briefs, brochures, toolkits, and technical presentations tailored to IDB, IDB Lab, and IDB Invest teams.

- Coordinate partner engagement with support from technical and resource mobilization teams. Identify strategic partnerships, support funding proposals, and develop donor-facing materials.

- Collaborate with sector and country teams to deliver technical assistance on care governance, financing, coverage, quality, and shared responsibility. Align IDB Cares with programming cycles, country strategies, and development challenges.

- Coordinate regional implementation of technical cooperation projects related to IDB Cares or other OSG priorities.

- Participate in the preparation and monitoring of care-related loan operations and other strategic investments.

- Promote innovative approaches to care challenges that foster inclusive development across the region.

What you'll need

  • Education: Master’s degree (or equivalent advanced degree) in Economics, Public Policy, Social Sciences, or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role.
  • Experience: Between 3 and 5 years of progressive experience in the management of social development projects, preferably involving loan operations and technical cooperation within multilateral development banks, and ideally with prior operational, analytical, and administrative experience at the IDB. Proven experience working on issues related to care systems and services, and addressing the needs of population groups such as women, children, older persons, and persons with disabilities. Demonstrated ability to coordinate complex initiatives involving multiple stakeholders, sectors, and institutions. Strong project management skills, including planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Languages: Proficiency in English and one of the other Bank official languages (Spanish, French or Portuguese) is required.

•    Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
 

Type of contract and duration

•    Staff:     International: International staff contract, 36 months initially, renewable upon mutual agreement.
