About this position
The Department of Southern Cone Countries (CSC) leads the strategic, programmatic, and operational relationship with Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay, and Uruguay. The Department also coordinates and facilitates the integration of corporate and operational activities across the institution, including engagement with the Board of Directors, Senior Management, and other IDB Group departments. In addition, CSC monitors country macroeconomic conditions and generates knowledge on strategic and operational issues. The CSC operational team is seeking a professional to work independently and with limited oversight of the supervisor on the following:
What you’ll do
1.Operational knowledge
-Provide input on the creation and internal dissemination of operational knowledge throughout the project cycle.
-Contribute to the development and use of tracking tools to monitor operational processes, milestones, and bottlenecks.
-Capture and synthesize lessons learned from portfolio implementation and completion, translating them into practical recommendations for new operations.
2.Programming
-Coordinate the preparation of inputs (data and sector analysis) that support the multiyear programming process led by the CSC Manager and Country Representatives.
-Advise on and contribute to the preparation of the Country Programming Document (CPD), ensuring quality, consistency, and alignment with country strategy objectives and Bank priorities.
-Monitor the achievement of milestones and goals for the loan operations program, in close coordination with Country Offices, including quality control of project documents for eligibility review meetings (ERM) and quality and risk review (QRR) processes.
-Contribute to the identification and prioritization of technical cooperation initiatives, supporting the department's operational and strategic objectives.
3. Portfolio management and monitoring
-Analyze, report, and make recommendations on the status of the loan portfolio, and progress in disbursements/performance.
-Participate in portfolio reviews carried out in CSC selected countries.
-Contribute to the review of Project Completion Reports.
4. Cross-collaboration
-Provide input on the planning and organization of events that support the development and dissemination of the department’s strategic products.
-Promote the systematic exchange of operational lessons learned and good practices across CSC Country Offices.
-Guide, coach and mentor junior staff to develop technical expertise.
What you'll need
• Education:Master’s degree in Economics, Public Policy or a related field.
• Experience: At least five years of relevant experience in Public Policy Management and development programs within public administration and/or international development organizations, including project development and/or evaluation. Demonstrated analytical, written, and verbal communication skills are required. The role also requires the ability to manage multiple competing priorities and deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines.
• Languages: Proficiency in English and Spanish is required.

Type of contract and duration
International staff contract, 36 months initially, renewable upon mutual agreement.
