We improve lives
The IDB Group is a community of diverse, versatile, and passionate people who come together on a journey to improve lives in Latin America and the Caribbean. Our people find purpose and do what they love in an inclusive, collaborative, agile, and rewarding environment.
About this position
We are looking for an analytical, collaborative, and results-oriented Stakeholder Engagement Consultant. In this role, you will provide embedded technical and operational support for the implementation and institutionalization of IDB Invest’s Stakeholder Engagement function, translating the Stakeholder Engagement Strategy and the Bolder Risk Approach into practical support for investment teams, clients, country and sector initiatives, and corporate priorities.
You will work with the Stakeholder Engagement function in the Environmental, Social and Governance Division of the Risk Department (RSM/SEG). The function advances proactive, evidence-based stakeholder engagement to inform decisions, identify and manage stakeholder-related risks and opportunities, support clients, strengthen partnerships, and protect institutional credibility throughout the investment lifecycle.
The assignment is demand-driven. Priorities will be established through a rolling work program and may evolve according to operational needs.
What you’ll do
- Coordinate the Stakeholder Engagement function’s rolling work program, assignment tracker, priorities, decisions, dependencies, milestones, indicators, and follow-up actions, and prepare concise management briefings and implementation updates.
- Conduct stakeholder, contextual, issue, influence, relationship, and conflict analyses for selected countries, sectors, portfolios, initiatives, and projects, and translate findings into maps, briefings, talking points, alerts, and decision-oriented recommendations.
- Maintain and continuously improve the stakeholder mapping database and repository, ensuring accurate, traceable stakeholder profiles, engagement histories, relationship information, issues, decisions, and follow-up records.
- Support early identification and management of stakeholder-related risks and opportunities across origination, eligibility, due diligence, approval, supervision, and exit, including project-specific engagement strategies, sequencing plans, escalation triggers, and rapid-response advice.
- Assess client governance, staffing, resources, systems, and readiness for stakeholder engagement, and develop practical gap assessments, implementation roadmaps, terms of reference, protocols, templates, training, coaching, and grievance-management support.
- Plan and support consultations, roundtables, forums, workshops, missions, events, and multi-stakeholder dialogues, including participant mapping, invitations, agendas, briefing and facilitation materials, records, evaluation, action tracking, and follow-up.
- Support implementation of IDB Invest’s Civil Society Engagement Plan and related IDB Group coordination, consultation, outreach, partnership, and institutional dialogue activities with civil society and other priority stakeholders.
- Develop and update stakeholder engagement guidance, procedures, checklists, playbooks, case studies, training modules, communication products, quality-assurance tools, and knowledge-management resources, capturing lessons learned and reusable solutions.
- Support technical cooperation and advisory activities, including activity design, work planning, procurement or vendor coordination, schedules, deliverables, budgets, implementation monitoring, documentation, evidence of results, and knowledge transfer.
