About this position

We are looking for a dynamic, resourceful, and reliable Prevention Consultant to join the Office of Ethics. As Prevention Consultant, you will support the work in ETH’s Declaration of Interest (DoI) Program, Conflict of Interest (CoI) in answering employee consultations, working as needed on other ETH activities, such as outreach and communications and training.

The Office of Ethics (ETH/ETH) is responsible for providing impartial assistance to IDB Group employees and management in reviewing and resolving matters regarding ethics and conduct in the workplace to contribute to good governance and to preserve and promote institutional integrity.

The team receives consultations and provides advice in response to requests for interpretation of the Codes of Ethics, manages the annual DoI exercises, receives misconduct allegations, and leads training initiatives to increase awareness on ethics and workplace conduct.

What you’ll do

  • Carry out CoI case analysis per the accurate and timely interpretation and application of the IDB and IDB Invest Codes and draft replies to employee consultations and matters.
  • Support with tasks related to the new Code of Ethics launch and its implementation. 
  • Research, compile, and analyze data and information relevant to the ETH’s work, make recommendations for improvement, and collaborate making suggestions in benchmarking efforts focused on ethics/professional conduct topics.
  • Collaborate in the preparation of documents and templates to be used in consultations, trainings, and the new Code implementation.
  • Assist in drafting consultations regarding the application of the Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct.
  • Research and review case data and ethics consultations to establish behavior patterns to aid in the elaboration of policies, protocols, and misconduct prevention activities.
  • Research, compile, analyze, and organize jurisprudence from multilateral organizations’ tribunals related to misconduct and workplace investigations.

What you'll need

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in law, political sciences, ethics, business, or another relevant field.
  • Experience: At least 2 years of relevant professional experience in law, ethics and compliance or other relevant fields. Prior experience managing or advising on conflict-of-interest matters is highly desirable.
  • Languages: Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is preferable.

•    Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
 

Type of contract and duration

International consultant Full-Time, 4 months (up to 48 months, subject to eligibility).
